A Covert Form Of Tilt

I've just identified this flaw in my playing and wondered if anyone else has experienced it as well.

It's not traditional tilt, hence the title of the thread. It became apparent yesterday. I'd been playing for a few hours in the 10 man SNGs and was doing well, with ITM finishes for the past 4 out of 5. And then it hit me. I was in a tourney and made a bluff for the blinds and raised 3x with trash. I got called. I made a play on the flop and got called. So I knew my opponent had hit whilst I had a 9 high card.

I knew I was beat but I reraised a silly amount and got called and then I moved all in. And was out.

What I felt - from making the initial pre flop bet to continuing was just a general apathy. I just couldn't care. And if he had folded, my disdain would have grown even greater and I would make even bolder moves next time around. Which would not be wise. And so I was in a no win situation.

Was it because of the level I was playing at? The opponents I'd been trouncing for the past few hours? Was it the length of time at the tables? I don't know but it was a weird sensation that cost me needlessly.

I didn't feel particularly tired nor was I aware that I wasn't in the mood to play anymore.

just llast night for instance, i had TT and the flop was KKT. I don't know the details anymore but I was fairly certain he had a king. Still I continued, just to see if i was right. Turns out I was :P

This kind of tilt happens quite a lot to me. I think it has something to do with to much poker in one day, after a while it's just to much I suppose.

yea dont play once you start playing crap. I do this sometimes too. You need to have a life outside of poker aswell

funny you should mention this, thunder. i came across the exact same situation earlier this week, and had the same, "aha" moment in regards to tilt.

i emailed my brother about my discovery; i just didnt feel it important enough to post here. why? i have no clue.

i went up about 1.5 BI's in some cash games over about 800 hands, and proceeded to take a couple smallish beats and then donk off the rest (about a BI) from stupid shit...3barrelling call stations, etc.

i stopped and realized what i had done, like you i didnt give a rat's ass while it was happening, and concluded i was tired. i had played a lot, for me, and was simply worn out/bored with poker for the day.

i learned about 1000 hands is my limit. i hope you learned something about yourself, too.

Yes, a life outside of poker. Someone should start on new thread on this. I think it may be a serious leak in my game.
