i used to overplay AK this exact way. imo, just call the RR to .22. and see the flop.

when you raise again, and he RRes again, what did you think you were up against? you are a flip here at best, and you prolly have to call his last raise b/c of the money you had invested.

in such low stakes, AK is overvalued, imo. its a raise caller pf, but not a 3 better most times (opponent read helps a lot here). look for a favorable flop, and take your shot...if you get raised back on flop...look out. if called, you may have the lead.

difficult hand to play b/c you are looking to avoid JJ+, especially KK+, but want to see AQ-. and if you miss completely, you are getting cbet into, but cant do much about it.

tough spot when villain makes it clear he is ready to go to stacks. better to keep this one small, and hope he goes passive post flop.

i agree with chopper's advice. i prefer not 4betting AK preflop. definitely at lower stakes i don't the pf 4bet. at $100NL+ you can definitely play AK very aggro pf and even commit stacks

5-betting? I must be confused about the terminology then. I thought 3-betting was putting the 3rd raise in the betting round. Is this wrong? edit: ok, I figured out why I am wrong.

I agree with chopper's advice too; I did overplay it, especially considering the level I am playing at. (It turned out that he had AJ and I won the hand.) Nonetheless, I need to stick to ABC poker at that level, build a bankroll and move up.

No, the BB is considered the first bet, so first raise is 2nd and a reraise is 3rd.

3-/4betting is fine imo, especially when we wil be oop on subsequent rounds. AK gains a lot of its value from prf folding equity.

it depends on reads. like here if u knew that guy played whacky like that, you could just push in pre flop, or just keep reraising, and he prob calls with AJ.

I used to get allin preflop with AK all the time at 2NL. I remember soon after I moved to 25NL I made a revolutionary (for me) strategy post about how it might sometimes be ok to fold AK preflop and Fnord pretty much said "duh".

Anyway, I think you can race AK, QQ preflop at this level and after the 3bet thats probably the way to go. If you just call the minraise then any lower PP is going to get away from it on a K high flop and youll still lose alot to AA/KK sets.

Of course, if he is one of the few tight players at this level then getting it in preflop is horrible.

pelion is right. just get all in with AK preflop when people are reraising/calling with less than QQ+.
