    Default Evolution of Online Poker

    Hey crew,

Just wondering if anyone had insight on how online poker may have changed in the past 6 months. With the tightening of restrictions / lack of bonuses, have you found players adapting their strategies? Less fish??

More specifically, full-ring, low stakes no limit poker (25nl-100nl). Any adaptations helpful? Are Renton's guides still pretty valid, overall?

    Thanks,
    Terry

Fewer fish, but still beatable. Where are you playing?

    Welcome back.

Right now I'm 7 tabling 25NL Full Ring @ Full Tilt. I'm finding much fewer fish, but have been pretty amazed at some of them.

My little strip of ocean is quite full of delicious little baitfish. (AP, .5/$1NL & under).

I've come across a few players that I thought were excellent, and most of the rest of them are making HUGE mistakes on a regular basis.

Fish are getting better for sure. Much less fish "i stack off with TPNK" type and much more "I have AA/KK/QQ I'm all in"
Low levels are still fkn easy everywhere but it obv helps to be playing eurosites

Yeah, at AP it's more like "I stack off with 2nd pair no kicker or missed AK, and I slowplay AA in a 6-way pot until someone has the stone cold nuts and then i get every penny in the pot dead."

The state of online poker is that it's just the same as it ever was, as far as I can tell. Well, besides the glory days of pary 50BB NL games. ::drools::

What about the future of online poker. Will it always be beatable for a decent win rate? Do you think we may encounter another (smaller) poker boom for some reason (maybe another game than HE)?

Like many have said, it's fewer fishes but definitely beatable.

Eventually the US will decide that it's legal after all. When that happens there will be another boom.

If you don't find it beatable, just move down. My view is that compared to pre-US ban, skill simply moved down 1 or 2 levels.

renton's guide is still good, imo. the games are still beatable. by the same rates we were killing it at and getting bonuses thrown in on top of? NO, but still beatable.

the fish (US ones) cannot reload as easily anymore, but thats not to say they arent. and the "dabbler" is prolly going away as the publicity of poker starts to wane in spring before raging back with the WSOP.

the one thing i keep noticing is all the players (good ones) dropping down a level or two. i've done it as well. we are dropping to find better numbers of fish.

another thing i've done recently is starting tracking "known" fish. i have watched a couple drop levels as they go busto. and i've even seen one go from 25NL to 10 to 5 to PLAY MONEY? wow. to not reload and drop to play money before figuring out you suck is beyond me, but whatever.

all that said, the games are still VERY profitable, but i find if i try to move back up where i was, its tougher than it used to be.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
