Default The best of both worlds

There is an ongoing feud among poker players, they choose sides.

    Tourney or cash players.

Each type of poker is played differently. Tourneys involve alot of preflop decisions, cash is more postflop. When someone becomes accustomed to one genre of poker, they being to fear the other kind. Great tourney players are intimidated by cash games, and great cash players don't bother with tourneys.

With this being said, though, if you become equally skilled at both, you will improve on both areas. In your tournament playing, you will be able to handle post flop decisions better. Also, during those long stretches where you dont final table, you will handle it better mentally since you will be grinding out little profits everyday (or close enough to it). On the flip side when your running like crap on the cash tables, you finally go deep in a MTT and hit that phat loot. mmm. its rewarding.

Having a balance of both types will greatly enhance your overall playing ability and success. Thats some food for thought. So dont be intimidated.

Good cash players can crush tournaments. I am a much better tournament player ever since I started learning cash.

I'm also glad I used to play SnGs because it has helped my SH play for when I make final tables in MTTs (which isn't often, lol)

I was never intimidated by the thought of cash games when I only played tourneys. Tourneys were just easier to learn and more exciting.
