    Default Sniffing out the set

    This is my biggest problem playing holdem. Sniffing out that I am up against a set and drawing thin. Does anyone have any solid recurring things they look for? Or is it more just a case of this guy wants to play a big pot and I'm not even drawing to a straight/flush etc.

    Is it just a case of avoiding big pots?

    I know that there are a lot of this and that and of course it all depends, but does anyone have any insight they can/will share?
    I started a new job so don't play much ATM, just FTP mini grind

    If they c/c flop and c/r turn.

    If you raise utg in a full ring game and get raised on the flop by a nit.

    If for whatever reason its obvious that you have TPTK or an overpair, but a passive player still is raising you.

    If a strong player leads into you and 3bets when you raise.

    If you are me, and you have AA on a great board.

    when you raise pf, they just call (or they call a RR cold pf). and then, they c/r you on the flop with a 2 flush board.
    LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

    Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

    This really varies from hand to hand... Some times I will felt mid pair, sometimes I will fold 2 pair.

    The best advice is to simply pay attention, and get some experience. When you do, you will start to 'feel' when you are beat, and reason and logic will help comfirm that.

    Well I was playing 25NL the other night and I had TP I think, so decent, not brilliant, and this guy kept trying to build the pot, I folded the turn as my hand wasn't rich enough for that, and he showed me his set, hopefully I can keep it up

    Haha yeah, anytime you are feeling good about your AA or KK on the flop, fold it, someones got a set
