Default I quit my job thanks to Doyle's room

I am fairly new to Texas Hold'em.. but not poker in general. I've made a fair bit of money over the years playing five-card draw lm.. but never enough to live on.

I got my bankroll to 1k a week ago.. and every day since then I've made 300-700 dollars a day profit in fixed limit or pot limit rooms.

It's really too easy to make profit, unless you're an idiot.

God Bless Texas Hold'em and Brunson.

I won a multi-table tournament for 400 or 500.. that's how I got my bankroll off the ground.

They also offer a good promo.. 110% on right now.. not bad for beginners..

is texas holdem awesome, man? It's free money if you got 1k and half a brain.

You quit your job with a 1k bankroll?

    How old are you?
  6. #6
Congrats on the good run and I really do hope it'll continue.

Quitting your job probably wasn't a great idea though, but like I said, hopefully things will turn out good for you.

Keep us posted. And for future reference. Take a leave of absence. When variance hits you in the ass, you may need to go back to work.

It must've been a really crappy job.
  9. #9
    Spam or just plain stupid?
  10. #10
Either way it's stupid. Why would a poker site want people to quit their source of income. Not everyone gets paid playing poker, somebodys gotta work. If it's not spam, it's real stupid.

well lets give the kid a little lee-way, he is a newb and we do not want to deter him from posting more relevant posts in the future. i take it from reading his post, the profits he says he's won on a consistent basis for less than a week or so, i say he's a fairly younger kid probably working a $10 job, so if he wishes to quit then so be it, $10 jobs are a dime a dozen no major loss there. But Regulator take this to head, it's the principle not to quit something that is a sure, just for the "ability" to make more especially so early in your poker "career". If u are making that kinda money on a regualr basis then u should be saving it up along with any extra profits from ur ex job and moving up the chain of levels where you can seriously be making good money. take it as you will...

This was my first thought (and I still think good chance it is true). It doesn't make sense to me since they had the free roll for us. You wouldn't think they would stoop to such a lame tactic, but who know.

If OP is for real seoul_child's post has good advice.

My, viewpoint (very relevant). You can't make enough at poker right now to live and build your roll (actually that was never encouraged). I'm making $5/hr/table at 50NL, two tabling is a simple task which would yield $10 per hour. However, you need a recommended $1k roll, how do you get this starting roll? Even worse, what if you run break-even for a week or so? Do you withdraw money taking your BR below the recommended level? What if you schedule a time to play and all the tables suck (definitely a concern now)? If your $10/hr gets cut into by anything it will hurt bad.

Even if you play 25NL @ 4 tables (which I believe would be difficult for a beginning, learning player), and maintain 5BB/100 you would be stuck in poker purgatory by making any consistent withdrawals.

well, I've been playing 20/40 making what I said above.. 300-700 a day. I do realize what you're saying about bad luck.. I've been playing about 6 hours a day, or longer.. and I have admirable patience.

You're underrolled for 20/40. You WILL go bust. Move down.

Regulator, at least withdraw everything above $4k when you're done for the day. At least then when you go busto you'll have something to show for your hot streak.

Euphor, you should probably sign up at Doyle's room (unless you're getting leveled by OP, then don't sign up)

I do like Doyle's Room.. the software and tournys are nice.

Full-tilt has less fish in the sea, if you know what I'm saying. Of course you do, I just like saying that.

Pokerstars has game me tumors.. not the place for me.

I had an amazing hotstreak going until today. I can't break even, but at the same time, I'm not getting stupid.

    10/20 stud

    and 20/40 fixed

my bad, bud.. I think i'm beginning to get caught up in this though. I keep wanting to switch to NL because when FX is running dry.. it's running dry.

If anyone plays 10/20 stud get on doyle's room.. it's so f---ing hard to find anyone in there or anyone willing to play in the lobby.
