question about pot odds
alright, i got a question, say your in a tournament and you want to get 1st place, to make up for all the money you've lost playing poker, this tournament will make up for all you've lost and then some. say a player puts me all in and the pot odds are in my favor, even though my pot odds are in my favor i'm still going to lose more than i'll win even though in the long run i'll make money instead of losing money, but when you are in a tournament you have to think about now you can't think about the long run, right? for example, my pot odds are say....7 to 1 and i'm on the turn for the river... hand odds being somewhere around 4 to 1 for a flush hand, even though in the long run i'll make money by calling but i can't think about the long run because once i'm out, i'm out. i don't qualify for the 1st place money because he put me all in. so my question is, when playing tournaments, do you guys still use pot odds to assess whether or not you should call or raise? when i say i'll lose more than i'll win...i'm saying that out of 5 times, i will win once, so seeing that i'll probably not hit the hand according to my hand odds probability, and also considering that this guy put me all in assuming that i don't hit, i'll lose, is there any better way to deal with this situation? or do you guys don't think of one tournament ...you think of the long term outcome, is this right? okay, sorry for talking so much, kind of hard for me to ask the question cuz kind of complicated for me to word it out. alrighty, thank you.
