    Default Suited Connectors

Unfortunately, my math sucks. But I'm a decent beginning player, decent meaning I win more than i lose. I play suited connectors hard (78 and up). It seems to worth it, though I know the odds are against winning with them, but here's my argument. When they do hit, they smash implied odds and give room to mak a killing. Alot of times, especially verse bad players, when they win, they win big. When they don't hit, it's easy to drop em. What do you guys think?

    Suited connectors do me well...

I like to play them on and off, but not consistenly. I usually dump them in LP and MP or call and fold to a raise, but often raise and even re-raise sometimes when in LP/Button.

Easy to fold to post flop aggression from callers if you dont hit the flop big, otherwise its pretty hidden esp if you hit the straight, just watch out for overflushes

it also depends alot on the table dynamic

I like to play them in late position if i get to see flop cheap; i also sometimes call 3-4xbb raise in LP vs super nit willing to donk of AA.

I like looking for nitty tables and raising the shit out of them preflop; the money I've made with suited connectors has increased hugely since I started raising and c-betting them.

Blinds: call unraised pot/check. Only call if the odds are correct; do not get cute!
Early position: fold, unless I am deep stacked in which case I will sometimes raise
Middle position: depends on a number of factors [i.e. how many hands I have been playing, stack size].
Late position: raise and depending on the situation I sometimes re-raise [if it has already been raised] to try and present a big hand.

The important items to remember considering suited connector's are that they are easy to fold if you miss the flop and to carefully consider your odds [and your expected odds for your opponent] post flop before calling, betting, or raising.

why would you fold them in the best position? do play them in EP? i'd hope not if you are tossing them in LP.
Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information.

So you guys don't play SC in EP? It really is not so profitable than in LP but I still think it is reasonable to play them in any position if opponents are mostly deepstacked.

Drawing hands are hit harder than most in early positions. Instead of having the opportunity to steal the majority of times you miss you must decide whether to bet into a potential monster or check into a hand that would potentially have folded. You cant buy free cards from out of position and you also find it much harder to get paid when you hit, since if you bet he will often just call but if you check (planning a checkraise) he will often just check behind.
They are generally very hard to play OOP. Id be suprised if many people could habitually play them profitably from UTG. Every so often as a mixup is good but not everytime you hold one.

Yes, I understand this things you mentioned, Pelion. I will check my tracker because I still think they are quite profitable even if you are at EP, not so much than in LP but they might be in EP too.

Interesting I checked stats for suited connectors when I play them UTG. I am experimenting and that is why I play them. I lose with 65s and 67s and win with 43s. My favorite SC are T8s and 97s from UTG. Winrate with T8s is just behind AA, KK, QQ and AKs in all positions, not just UTG. Interesting. I have 67k hands for now so it is quite reliable I think.

Thats still a pretty small sample size to look at winrates for individual hands. You can probably get a reasonable answer for your suited connectors by grouping them but you arent anywhere near being able to compare 56s with 67s yet.

What stakes/site do you play and what are the usual sorts of table VPIPs and aggression levels?

What is good sample size? It is Pokerstars 25NL now but it was lower in the past. VPIP's range from 20 - 30 I think, aggression is quite low I think. Can you see average table VPIPs and aggression levels in poker tracker, I mean for all games I have played in the past? Maybe a dumb question and offtopic, but anyway...
