I think this is true for thinking players. They can tell when you want a call or don't want one. They can also tell, however, when you're overbetting a made hand.

In my experience, the smaller I bet, the more calls I get. Period. Fish call bets relative to the amount of money they're willing to risk, without regard to pot size, implied odds, or hand strength. For instance, they'll call $3 into any pot, say a $1 pot. But they won't call $7 into a $15 pot with the same hand.
