wondering where the 3 extra chairs at my 6max table came from

    Default Playing AK overcards

Have about 12K hands in, mostly .50/1 or 1/2 limit, so still pretty green...

Struggling with AK (s or o) post-flop when nothing pairs on the flop. How aggressively should I bet these out for value, as I frequently find myself getting to the river with no pair and STILL only having AK overs. Currently I usually raise/re-raise PF (depending on position), bet/call into the flop, bet/call on the turn and then, if the pot is big enough and the board doesn't show obvious straight/flush/set/FH possibilities, bet into the river if HU or check/fold if multi-way pot.

I feel like I lose way more of these than I win. Should I be more passive if I don't pair by the turn or keep betting (assuming pot odds are there) until the bitter end?

Sorry if not the clearest post in the world (is my first!) but hope you all get the idea.... Thx!!!

I'm not a great believer (personally) of re-raising with AKo (obviously depending on how many people left to act, how many people called initial raise, how tight/loose the raiser is etc.). I'm sure some people will disagree with me here but it's what works for me.
If I am first to act after the flop or if I'm checked to, I pretty much always take a shot at the pot regardless of what is dealt - unless I have flopped a monster.
If I'm bet into by the raiser, obviously a continuation-bet is possible. So I may call here even if I hit nothing. If anyone else bets into me I'll usually respect it and fold unless I'm confident I've got the best hand/good draw to the best hand and odds to continue. Again, this is all dependent on the type of player betting into me.
But don't just call because it looks like everyone else is bluffing; AK is a drawing hand, you have to know when to throw it away.

Well ace king is a good hand, 9 times out of 10 I will raise this pre flop trying to steal blinds and chase off anyone luck hunting as i call it. After the flop when you dont get what you need depending on your table spot and the other players skill level bet if you think they are weak and you think you can fold them dont show fear by limping in you got a strong hand.

Im rather new to this site myself but thats how i would play it :P

Learn how to fold. If you're not picking up the pot with a continuation bet (c-bet) on the flop then firing a second barrel on the turn is usually throwing good money after bad. Don't c-bet into more than one or two opponents, don't c-bet into calling stations and don't c-bet into flops that are likely to have hit your opponents (other broadway cards). AK is a drawing hand and overvalued by a lot of players. Save your second barrels until you have a lot more hands under your belt and are better at making reads
