55 flopped set: How to extract most value?

Shove over flop raise? I had intended on check/pushing over turn bet, but i was worried that the ace may scare him away.

Id lead that turn or checkraise AI, I dont like the check-call. On that flop I think you should be betting a little more and that would help set up for a checkraise AI better on the turn if he is to raise that flop bet. The value bet on the river is fine, if he isnt paying that off then he most likely wouldnt pay off anything earlier, but Id still try to get the money in on the turn, or atleast more of it.

Looks like he was done with this hand on the turn. So you probably couldn't have gotten much more outta him without reraising the flop, and even then he probably would have folded out. But there's nothing wrong with betting out the flop here - your hand is disguised and he seemed to like his then.

Unfortunately, he didn't have an A here. With the PFR (I love hitting a set after a PFR!), I raise big on the turn. If he hits TPGK or better, you may drag him along for more money.

Definately reraise on flop or turn. I'd probably go with momentum and do it on flop.

As it played out, I'd say he either had a pocket pair above 6's, or a straight draw. At the river he knew he was behind, so to get more money out of him, I would play faster on the flop and/or turn.

if you think he has an overpair...you might get called all in on flop or making a really really big bet...he probably had queens and was scared of the ace on the flop...of course if you think he has a-k or something you gotta play it slower.

Most plays like this one occur when the opponent has a mid pair but an overpair nonetheless. You need to extract as much value as soon as possible because the turn can be a high card than his pair (in this case, an ace). When the ace hits, he no longer has an overpair and will not be willing to put too much more in the pot.

I have many rules for playing poker. My #2 rule is: Don't slowplay against the weak.

not sure why everyone says reraise the flop so hard - this is exactly what you want...the best thing is YOU did the preflop raise so who can put you on 55 here? Great flop - The guy is probably raising you with 88 - 10,10 - you are in the drivers seat, and that is a rainbow flop - You can raise the turn, but smooth calling the flop raise I absolutely LOVE - the Ace and King cards do suck for you, since if he has 88 - JJ he hates seeing either of those hit...Still, usually on the flop, i wouldn't re-raise him there...Let him think he's taking control...maybe min-raise on the turn to $20...
