playable starting hands: tourneys vs. ring games

I have heard great tournament players all saying the same thing: "Amateurs play too many hands. Only play premium hands". And I agree and have made that work for me in tournaments. Tight and agressive. Wait for others to make mistakes and advance. But I am playing very low stakes ring games lately and I find conservative tables that I can boss around and pick up alot of dead money with shitty cards so I play any 2 cards depending on the behaviour of the other players.

Is this a bad habbit? Should I keep my side game strategy similar to my tourney strategy? Im curious to hear other players opinions.

I don't think it is EVER a bad thing to adapt to your table - If you can push them out, do it - Just don't take it so far, so often that even the worst players see what your doing and are getting ready to take a stand against you - and don't raise/steal with so much of your stack that your almost forced to call with garbage...Get away with as much as you can, but learn to let hands go when you find resistance -

hey limpinainteasy.. thanks for your response, i agree completely. ill almost never bluff twice in a row unless i know im going to get away with it, i dont bluff with large amounts like other players do because i think betting large amounts is like screaming "please dont call me!" and small bluffs are just as effective if not more so because they think your trapping them.

It's all about adapting to the table but as rilla points out a lot of tables are going to be maniac ridden.

I play much tighter in tourneys that I do in ring. I try to see all the flops I can in ring, while in tourneys I'm more careful of re-raises behind. Also the blinds and table complexion change the hand you should play, especially early on.
