Default anybody else tell themselves they have the goods?

this might be pretty stupid, but i'm giong to ask it anyway - Do any of you try to tell yourself you have a monster, when you are trying to bluff? I have been working on bluffing lately to try to add to my game. One thing I find in my homegames is that sometimes, when I'm bluffing, I will tell myself i've got a monster - I think it gives off a confidence or at least not seeming nervous about whether or not your getting called - I try to do the same thing in my online NL Games...Sometimes I will just keep firing w/out much of a hand, but if I "think" i've got a good one, its almost as if my bets have more confidence in them - Like i'm value betting instead of bluffing - or maybe im only trying to learn to bet the same way on a good hand as a bad one - Does anyone else do this? Or use another method to give off the same strength on a good hand as a bluff?

I like to tell the ladies I have a monster.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

when i bluff im thinking of the other person's cards, not my own. i put them on a hand and figure out the best way to push them off of it.

I don't try to convince myself that I have a good hand, but if I'm betting with air I'm often more confident than if I'm betting with an OK but beatable hand - like TPTK. I think it's because with the bluff I know exactly what I'm going to do whatever the villains response. Otherwise instead of thinking about whether I can push them off their hand I'm thinking about whether I'm beat or not.

Lukie: "Yo Fnord I was playing omaha earlier"
    Lukie: "I got dealt quads"
Lukie: "but everyone folded to my raise "
Lukie: "I was going to pwn everyone"
Fnord: "Gotta slowplay them big hands man..."

Default Re: Bluffing with the Goods

When I am playing live and am attempting a bluff, I actually do try to convince myself I have the nuts. Let's face it, everybody has tells and having the same mindset (or as close to it as possible) can help limit those tells. Thus, I've adopted the strategy of both when I am bluffing and actually do have a hand of trying to distance myself from the poker hand itself and just think of myself...onthe beach...with Jessica Alba. When I do that I have such a distant, yet strangely happy face that nobody can imagine that I could be bluffing (except when I have the goods, then they always think I am praying to the poker gods that I dont get called so they call) . Alright, thats enough of my theory, I have to go...think.

I'm guessing you push when they're behind and lay it down when they're ahead??
