Maximize Value on Quads

Ok, so this hand has a little history behind it. Villain had called against the pot odds and repped a flush against my set a few hands before. I checked the river heart (ahem, puss) and he bet 1/2 the pot. I folded and he shows A3 for bottom pair.

Anyway, a few hand later I get this gem....lets watch:

So my question is two fold:

1. How do you get the most out of your quads?

2. Whats the best strategy for drawing in a maniac/bluffer when you have the nuts?

how is going all in supposed to induce a call from someone who obviously has nothing? in order to get money out of someone who has nothing, which is obviously what everyone had, you need to induce a bluff.

my read on him is that he was a maniac. He thought for a while about it, or was out taking a leak. What would you recommend in this instance?

Paired flop, checks round, the guy that bets in early position on the turn at these levels is almost always going to have that third six, and you're obviously not going to be betting the 2. Positions too early to really rep Q too.

The short answer is, you don't get action on quads unless someone else has something pretty. You certainly don't get action from a suspicously small bet in early position then pushing the river in desperation.

That's not really a gem.. I've never gotten paid off when I've hit quads on my pocket pair to be honest. It's better to hit quads with 3 on the board.. then everyone's playing for highest pair to the boat. Someone would have to beat trips here to bet hard into it.

Your only chance really is to check or bet weak and hope someone takes a stab at it with a bluff. You might make some money off of a Q, but seems like noone has it.

why not lead out for $.30 on the flop and try to get some value out of Qx or 2 clubs or any number of hands these guys would be happy to put money in the pot with?

The best way to extract value out of this hand in my opinion is to let him bluff at it expecially if he is agressive. Check flop, Check turn, Check river. If he bets on any street you want to think a long time before you call and check the next round. This should make him think that you don't have trips and are scared that he has trips. Obviously on the river you want to reraise if he raises I would make it 2.5x his bet. Against a calling station I would value bet all three rounds. Against a Weak tight player I would probably value bet all three rounds also but I doubt your going to make much money of a weak tight player.

I would recommend not posting the results in white when we all know what the results were - you overcooked the pot by a factor of about 10, and villain folded.

Personally, with a hand this huge, I like to lead into the pot from the flop. Everyone expects a huge hand to slowplay, so give someone the chance to play back at you. Whilst letting them draw a free card allows them to improve, it does nothing to biuld the pot for when they actually hit. So, by leading at the pot with modest bets, you are doing 2 things: 1) increasing the size of the pot in advance of situation 2) when villain does actually improve and decides he wants to play back at you. Most of the time though, there's rarely much action when the board pairs to your pair. Everyone is scared to death of the set, whilst not realising that having 2 cards pair on the board is usually a good thing, as it decreases the chances of someone having the third. The only real money you're getting here is from the poor bastard that filled up his pocket queens, or from someone hitting a flush.
