    Default Law of Loose Wiring

Some famous poker dude came up with that law that basically said that many certain decisions at the poker table are random, like the amount someone bets.

So you're supposed to bet big with a made hand, call small with the draw.
Bet to protect the vulnerable top pair / 2 pair, bet to bluff

What Amounts are you supposed to bet though? I always thought it to be of random, I'm not sure what to bet (besides big or small)

Let's say your on the SB holding A8 diamonds

2 limpers, you limp, BB checks so basically four people in for $1 for pot of $4

flop comes 8 5 4 with 2 spades. You need to protect right? What's ur bet?

    are you serious?

in your example, 3/4ths to full pot bet. Leaning towards full, cause you're in first position.

Mike Caro- he wrote some books, said

“If choices are not clearly connected to their benefits, people usually interact in ways that make outcomes unpredictable.”

I just said bets 'cause i wanted to segue to my topic.

why 3/4 pot? this is beginner forum...

3/4 of the pot because your first to act in a multi-way pot. This bet is meant to destroy flush odds, if one person calls your bet the next opponent is still not getting sufficient odds to draw.

It is also a bet for information, you will quickly find out if pocket 9 or higher are out there or if you are up against a set, because both will probably raise to isolate.

If you bet 3/4 pot, and two guys call, both of em called for 23%, pretty close to the 18% chance to hit.. with implied odds probably a good call, because if you hit there are now two people who could pay you off.
