How to play at 11 person Ring Game - Casino

I need some help.........
I went down and played for the first time at a brick 'n mortar Casino.
I played the $1/$2 No limit table which has 11 Players in total.
Rules for the table are that each player must buy in a minimum of $60, but can only sit down with a maximum of $60, hence if a player drops his stack below $60, they can ONLY relenish upto the initial $60 at a given time (excluding winning of course).

I had absolutely no success at this table and I'm wondering if my strategies were poor (as I am used to online table with a maximum of 9 players), therefore my questions are:

1) What sort of bankroll should I have in order to give my chance some chance of success (e.g bb x 50 ?)
2) How would starting hand requirements chance in an 11 person ring-game - are drawing hands a better option?

I think being able only bring 30bb to the table kills implied odds for almost all hands. It makes playing pocket pairs for sets -EV and the same for suited connectors. You should basically nut camp for QQ, KK, AA and AK there (I would rather not play that game at all)

just to clarify....
a players winnings can be kept on top of the initial $60, so at the table there will be stack sizes ranging from $1 - $500

Does that still still go against your comment regarding implied odds?

I just don't know if this type of play is profitable

I watched some guys on the next table over $2/$4, where they were able to buy in $400 of chips, so I guess that is a better format...but above my bankroll.

Lets say you pick up 55 UTG at this table, you should limp and do (you just sat down with your $60 stack). You are fairly unlikely to win at this table without hitting your set which is a 1 in 8 chance. Now, if someone raises 3x you can call in a +EV manner, as you can get more than 8x your investment into the pot if/when you hit your set.

If anyone raises to the more likely PFR, 4x you can not call profitably because you can't get more than 8x into the pot. As 8x8 = $64 and you don't have the ability to sit with a $64 stack. So playing a pocket pair to a raise before the flop is now -EV even with implied odds

Basically to play this game you're going to have to sit with the max $60, and camp for AA/KK/QQ and get all in to double up before you can even consider making +EV moves with things such as suited connectors, AQ/AJ, or small PPs

To keep it short, don't bother playing that game, it is going to be very hard to make it +EV with the rake and small stacks.

I felt pretty pathetic as a player at this table ; unable to make anything happen.

I also felt that with a $60 stack, one wrong move or unlucky play was gonna cost me my stack.

I had flashbacks to Phil Ivey once saying that you HAVE to treat the chips as tokens, you must have little regard for the value of those chips if you are to be successful. I sat there protecting this tiny $60 stack, and since I didn't win any pots early on found myself drowning. I think if you have a double up or two, and can get to say $250, then you can make things happen, but given the situation I'd be better playing that $60 on .25c ring games online.

thats ridiculous, only allowing $60 at a 1-2 NL table. its bad enough my casino only allows a $100 buy-in for a 1-2 NL..

i strongly dislike 11 player games but the best thing to do with a $60 stack is wait for a premium hand... JJ-AA or AK , possibly AQ because with $60 you have enough for one betting round... figure you bump it up 8 dollars preflop and you have 4 callers the p0t size would already be at $32 dollars... to protect your hand you would bet at the minimum of 2/3 pot size, on the turn all your money goes in. basically play tighter than a cows ass during spring season.

with a $60 stack, its not time to get fancy with suited connectors..

once you get up to a $300-$400 stack thats where you can get a little comfortable and start getting crafty.

sitting @ a table w/ 30bb means you either wait 5 hrs to get a top-5 hand or you start playing the lottery & hope to win 4-5 flips in a row to build a reasonably high stack of chips. i realize this isn't the most helpful of suggestions, but if i were you i'd simply look for another place to play.

2 limpers, A9+/22+/KQ at the button: push.

3BB raise, 1 caller, you have 99+/AJ+, push.

limp in with low PP/SC, hit a flop, push.

at these tables you either have to gamble to build a stack up early, or play real damn tight waiting for QQ, KK, AA, and AK and double up. if you get AK be prepared to put all your chips in
