Default good Advice program for a novice player?

    Hey all,

I've only recently gotten into Texas Hold 'Em, about a year ago, and have only recently taken up making every Tuesday poker night with my buddies.

We each put in $5 each and play low-limit for a few hours. Most of the players are novices too.

I'm incredibly uneven as a player--if I win it's usually because I get lucky or I have some semblance of strategy that I've simply copied from watching the World Series of Poker on tv. We also have a host of truly terrible players who seem to consistently win on nothing but luck.

I'd like to become better so I can start making a profit on a regular basis. Does anyone know of a good tutor program that I could use?

But it can't be Hold' Em Tutor by Nickeltech software; I tried downloading the full version of that program and all I got was an error message.

    Best bet?

Read here an awful lot and get some books. The advice programs are okay, but you need a foundation of WHY you're making the play you're making to really improve.
