    Default VP$IP

I was wondering if some of the successful $100+ NL players could share some thoughts on what they think are reasonable VP$IP ranges for various positions.

I try to play a slightly LAGgy game, and am currently operating at 21% VP$IP - this ranges from 14% UTG to 27% on the button.

Do these seem reasonable? Is this too much for UTG? I am currently profitable from UTG, so it's probably not too bad.

Also what about from the small blind? A couple weeks ago I realized that I was bleeding money from the small blind (i'm too embarassed to even say how high my VP$IP was). I have fixed this, but still am not sure how many to play from this position.

    Thanks.

SB leak is hard to get rid of, especially if you play tight. You get excited that you actually get to play a hand semi-cheaply (which is poor reasoning). My recent rule is to only complete if there is one or less person calling before me. I'm probably still bleeding money that way but one step at a time.

When the flop comes out I usually bet the pot regardless of the board and lots of times get folds. If I check and it checks around, I'm betting the pot on the turn with similar success.

I'm at 21% VPIP too which isn't far from tight. I try to play some looser hands from late position when there are few callers before me. I don't want to be seen as tight at a table. Otherwise, AA-QQ gets folds every time.

I would have thought 21% is more TAGG then LAGG. Sounds good to me.

I play suited connectors from the small blind as well as my usual hand range (pp's, AK,AQ, AJ, KQ) sometimes play a Axs if theres lots of limpers. Maybe AT aswell.

The games I play have blinds of 15p and 25p, so completing is relatively more justifiable as it only costs another 10p. I still avoid doing it unless I have a very good reason to - in full ring at least; at 6max this may not always be the case, and that might be a leak in itself.

If you're simply completing with the intent of throwing out a bet to buy the pot this rule works. However, from any other standpoint I don't agree with this at all. If you have 6 limpers + BB with some kind of offsuit connectr, or practically any hand, you're getting huge implied odds. You have to invest half a bet with 7 bets already invested. Something always to keep in mind.

This gets me in too much trouble. I hit the flop but somebody hits it better.

    Or even 764r is good.

hell, 582r is good too. You might have to pay the damn set off.

You're looking to flop the nuts or be given at least a draw to the nuts and hopefully odds to draw to it. Hands like suited or offsuit connectors, 1 gappers, and maybe 2 gappers should be played from sb with implied odds looking for a straight or if lucky, trips or a boat.

I'd rather get two pair than trips... you know, the whole ace-rag owning me thing doesn't get me hard at all. Plus, if the board pairs it's an EASY laydown, where with trips you don't know when you're ahead or behind.
