    Default PLEASE HELP~~~

I was wondering (for the players who play AK, AQ , and AJ. Lets suppose your sitting in mid position with AQ, your the first one into the pot, do you raise with this hand, or do you limp? If you limp you risk someone in later position raising you and then having to fold, if you raise, your goin to miss the flop 72% of the time, and your only goin to flop the ace only 17% of the time. In other words most of the time you are goin to have nothing on the flop, so do you check/fold? Or do you bet praying he has nothing and will fold? Please help me out

Please post this in the correct forum, not High Stakes Holdem.

It all depends on the table, and your image but 3x raising AQo/AQs from mid position is pretty standard, limping is a no no. Also you're right you will miss most the time technically, but so will you're opponent, and you use betting, aggression, and reads to win the pot without a showdown.

i agree 100%. i feel if youre gonna limp you might as well fold (cant call a raise)....but like they said table image and table make a HUGE difference. not to mention you dont HAVE to hit the flop to take the pot

Many many hands that see the flop headsup are won unpaired.

this is pretty situation specific, but if I have to give a broad, catchall answer...

DEFINITELY RAISE. Limit the field and take command of the pot. If you don't catch anything, assess the situation and see if anybody else caught anything either. Continuation bet nearly religiously.

Caveat: don't try this if the table thinks your loose. Maybe raise to limit the field, but you might be hesitant to make a continuation bet. If your ace of queen hits, you should be golden, since nobody should be able to put you on it.

So if you limped AK, say UTG, and someone raised 3xBB, You would fold? I know that I personally would never limp AK, but if I were to limp it, I would definately call a standard raise.

Agreed. You don't have to hit to take the pot.
