Count outs on the flop

I have been reading a lot lately on counting outs and have a question regarding counting outs to hit a straight. If I have K 9 o/s and a Q 2 7 rainbow comes up.....do I count the 10's and Jacks as outs? I keep coming up with huge percentages to win and I know something is obviously wrong. I do subtract all cards that i may need to hit a flush as well but .....??? Feel free to email or IM me at [email protected]

my maths would be .....

you need one of the 4 Js or one of the 4 Ts out of the 47 unseen cards THEN you need the "other" that didn't come on the turn, i.e. EITHER the 4 T's OR the 4 J's so....

8/47 * 4/46 = 1.4%

and, yes, this may be even lower if the T and the J that come are of the same suit.

however, I wouldn't necessarily need to know this because I would almost certainly just fold!

If you're new to this, I'd suggest only counting outs to a made hand. Some people consider a backdoor flush as 1 out or a backdoor straight as 0.56725 outs. Whatever. If you're relatively new to the game and you're chasing those hands then you're losing money.

If you need running cards, then those aren't what i'd consider outs. I consider them to be something different entirely. An out is a card that gives you a better hand than your opponent. On the flop described you're drawing to a draw.
