BB to Normal Bet Size Ratio

Here's another rookie question I've been pondering. Many times I notice that the guy with the big chip stack (who's maybe been there about five hours) is calling everything pre-flop,yet still coining it in. Might it be that your 25 cents call is always worth it if the average post flop bet is $2-3?

I noticed on Turbo Texas Holdem that you could always beat Mike if your blinds were significantly smaller than normal bets (ok, that's limit, but just wondering if the same held true).

Obviously the guys with the big stack could be pushing other people off the pot, but that's not what I'm seeing. It's more like they think you've gotta be in it to win it and they don't mind laying down a bad hand post-flop or on aggressive raising.

Any thoughts on what's going on? I'm trying to be a good boy and see less than 20% flops, and it's amazing the great hands I've missed.

If these guys are truely calling with anything but not raising. Then just play your game. As soon as they go utterly aggro on you your better off just leaving. next time you see this happening with a big stack that you have position on. Try playing some more creative hands but dont get caught up. The reason you can do this here is because the big stack is giving you the possibility of implied odds. If he doesnt want to raise preflop then call in with some more creative hands and allow them to pay you off when you hit. Just be careful because you dont want to get caught without holding the goods.

in a full ring game don't limp everything even with a big stack limper. you've got a whole room full of people you need to beat, not just the big stack. if you want to loosen up, sure i could even see going to 30% of your hands, but even then you probably won't make as much as calling 25% or less, and if you're calling more than 30% you're just pissing your money away.

thanks for that. any thoughts on 6-max %age flops? If I just check big blinds and call half my small blinds, I'm already up at around 25%

I think I saw some rule of thumb of 200% divided by the number of people in the ring, but I may have dreamed it (sleep encroaching on my poker time again)

Dont worry so much about how many flops you see. Just worry about your position and stack. Make sure that you know who and when you want to isolate. When you are holding the goods pick em clean.

If you want a somewhat general idea...try to keep your %age at 15-30...Depending on cards and whatnot. But realize that you want to get these guys heads up as often as possible so you can follow your bet.
