Not much you can do here. The only explanation for his pf call was that he was a complete idiot and/or was sure you were bluffing. I'm guessing the former was true, and if so, he's not going to think about a high pocket pair.

Your flop bet was fine, and yes, you had to call his reraise even though you thought you were beat. You were about 25% (6 outs * 2 * (1 for flop + 1 for river) + 1 = 25%) to catch one of your two overs by the river, so you were only losing to a 9 or 66. He's about as likely to be bluffing as have a 9 or 66, so you figure that the .60 gives you easy odds even neglecting your pot equity.
