Default What starting hands do you play???

I have read many posts, and there is discussion going on all the time about starting hands, and being tight, but when it comes right down to it, what is your cutoff for opening hands you play? Do you only play Group 0 and Group 1 hands, and possibly Group 2 hands in late position? Do you play more than these? Is there a good rule of thumb to follow? Thanks, I appreciate all the help I get here.

Short response : All Pocket pair , any position, call raise with small pocket pair only if the raiser has 12X his raise ( and don't call if the raise is outrageous either, like 5-6 BB)
    Raise with AA-KK

AK-AQ, small raise or limp, vary or you become predictable.

some suite connector late position-no raise.

that all, 8 table this and you will show an immediate profit :P

What site allows you to 8-table? Party?

Prima has a max of five. I could do a couple more I think.

4 on party, 4 on empire.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

Shortest answer as a general rule?

All pocket pairs. Always call if the raiser has at least 10x his raise (assuming you have him covered; otherwise, if YOU have at least 10x his raise)
AK, AQ (tread carefully with top pair with these)
QJ suited (my favorite hand, especially when they're diamonds or clubs)

KQ, JQ Ax suited connectors in late position

or at least, I'd like to think that. I've found myself getting involutnarily loose lately.

All pocket pairs from any position. All Ax suited from mid/late position, unless it's raised substantially. All suited connectors above 56 in late position and above 89 in early or middle position. Raise or fold AJ, KQ in early or middle position depending on what the feel of the table is. Raise with these hands in late position or fold if it has already been raised. Re-raise with AA, KK, and sometimes QQ. If limped to me in late position I'll raise it big with any 20 or better and hope to take the pot right there. I play AK and AQ cautiously, rarely reraising and often just calling or raising small in early or middle position. They are hands I do not want to get a lot of money invested in out of position but also don't want to let idiots with a Q9 in and have them spike two pair.

Beware of playing any pocket pair from any position as a rule in your game. Low pocket pairs should barely even be considered unless youre BB or SB. Some people will say play any pocket pair regardless of the amount you have to call pre flop...that's very bad advice. It greatly depends on position and the amount of the call.

Not regardless, but with stacks that are maxed out at 100x the BB, I'd call any raise that would allow me to win lots of moolah should I hit my set.

Even if I go into the flop as an underdog vs a KK with my 44. If I hit my 4, chances are, I'm getting paid.

Implied odds are the reason you play any PP from any position.
