Are you calling becuase he's bluffing and becuase you have the A?

Do you really need to risk 7k chips there?

    That is horrible.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

If you were near the final table, then I would think that it is a really easy fold. Even in this situation, you do not seem to be on the verge of blinding out, it doesn't seem like you need to make a move to double up.

If he has a queen, i think your at a coin flip, if he has 2 pair already, your way behind, if he has a flush, then ur really behind. So, at best your at a coin flip in a situation where you dont need to risk chips.

    Fold em.

If he is paired, you are behind, it is not a coin flip. I think this is a thin call, I would not make it unless it was a rebuy tourny. You have some chips, why rish the rest of them on a draw? You could pick off a bluff, but the majority of the time you will be behind here.

Against all the possible Qx combinations that doesnt give the BB two pair, hes only a little behind in the equity

I'd call, you have good odds to nearly double up and even if he has top pair, you still have a flush draw with 2 overs.

He doesn't need to double up.

He shouldn't be gambling like this unless he gains some amazing edge with a huge stack of chips (Rippy-style).

He's pushing very small edges in a tourny at a very wrong time.

Ballsy call...I like it but think you got busted by an AQ.
Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

Sorry no way he's AQ. Maybe a small PP.

Let me pose a question to get this discussion moving in the right direction. The average player calls a preflop raise, and is first to act heads up after the flop. The flop is a little scary.
    1. What does the average player do with a monster?
    2. What does the average player do with a miss?
    3. What does the average player do if he catches a small piece?

Wrong. A larger stack of chips is ALWAYS an edge due to the fact that when you catch a really great hand, the most you can do is double up. The more chips you have when you double, the further ahead of the field it puts you.

This is, of course, aside from all the other advantages that having a big stack brings, which apply to anyone regardless of whether they are hyper-LAgg or not.

Ah, I see. Opp reraises with any pocket pair preflop. Opp slows down with flush on flop. Opp feeler bets most pairs on flop. Opp goes crazy with heart on flop trying to force things (Especially the K). You've got the case ace and him outkicked unless he's holding KQ.

    Touche, wise man.

I was focusing on the overcall holding no pair and gambling half your stack when the blinds don't dictate that sort of action.

But there's still something to the idea of not gambling so much here. You could be ahead here, but you could also easily be chasing a flush for 2/3rds your stack.

I'll give you this one. Reduced to 4k, you've still got a fighting chance.

I agree that it gives you some edge to have a stack (obviously) but you can also wait for a better spot.
