    Default What would you do?

You get dealt JJ in MP

UTG, who has just arrived and bought in for 10BB, goes all in - you call.

MP2, a player one behind you who bought in for 20BB four deals back and so far has not played a hand, goes all in over the top for 19BB; everyone folds around to you.

    Your call.............?

If it makes any difference, in this instance 1BB = $5

    I would fold...
I love the feel of Hold'em control...

I'd be really tempted to call, if I'm thinking about this right.

There are 40.5BB in the pot (10+10+19+1+.5), and you have to decide whether or not to call an additional 9... 4.5:1, right? Worst case, you're about a 6:1 underdog to two overpairs (well... absolute worst case is one has AA and the other has JJ). If they both have AK, you're about a 2:1 favorite. The fact that MP2 hasn't played in 4 hands (hands, not rounds, right?) doesn't scream "tight" to me... it's only 4 hands.

But I've only been playing for a year... I'm very interested in what the more experienced folks think...

I would probably call. In my eyes, the above reasoning holds.

    I called

Early player had AJo, middle player had AKo my Jacks held up.

My thinking at the time went something like this.

All in, minimum buy in, first hand pfft he's dead....

(the other player goes all in - bang - suddenly the adrenalin hits)

Oh shit what now, this other guy has something, must have something, if he's been lurking he would have seen that I have just gone 30 hands and not entered the betting. If this was at my usual level of $1 and they were $10 and $20 buyins I'd be calling but these folk have to be better players. Bah it's only 20% of a full buy in I'm getting 4:1 odds even if they have me beat right now.....

The moral of the story for all of you who buy in for less than the maximum is that had MP2 made that raise and still had 80BB sitting in front of him I would have been much less likely to call because of the expectation of more bets to come.

Tough to fold but, if this puts you all-in you may want to lay them down. I couldn't tell what your stack was. I usually want only 1 person all-in against me unless I have AA. Doesn't seem like you had much of a read on the players. Otherwise, if you know they are overbetting an inferior hand you could call.

Folding could be the correct move here, but I'd have a damn hard time laying it down.

It's very easy to get glued to hands that you already have 10BB invested preflop with, so I would probably end up calling and praying.

did you not consider raising over the top of the first guy? you could have prevented the third guy from ever coming in. then your decisions would not be so hard.
