    Default The UK stinks!!!

Ok, firstly can i just express my jelousy at all you guys out there in America having every game available, anytime, 365 days a year!

I live in the UK. We have one Casino in the city i live in, and to be honest, its a dump! They have comps 5 nights a week. Tuesday its a £10 buy in, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sunday afternoons its £5 buy in, Friday its £20 buy in and Sunday night its £50 buy in.

They are all constant stack rebuys, giving you 1000 in chips for every rebuy. Most nights you can buy in for the first 2 hours, Sunday afterernoon its only 1 and a half hours. After the rebuy time is up you can top up with an additional 1000 chips, and if you have less than 500 you can buy 2000. Its pot limit and the blinds are set at 100 & 100 for the whole rebuy period, going up quite rapidly after that. Usually we get 4 or 5 tables per night with 9-11 players per table.

I have numerous books which i have studied and am still reading at every opportunity. Among them are Doyle Brunsons Super System, David Sklanskys Thoery of Poker, Mike Caros book of tells and a pot limit book that asks you questions and gives you a score for how you play each hand.

I have read a lot of tournament strategy advice on this forum, and think the amount of knoladge here is amazing!

If their is any info on pot limit, please point me in the right direction, i might have missed it! If not, could any of you guys teach me a little? Im desperate to break some of these comps i play in! Im trying everything ive learned so far but always seem to make enough mistakes to see me walking home before the final table even starts!

Should i be more inclined to take NL advice on board or Limit? or maybe neither? PL advice seems hard to come across, especially PL tournament.....maybe im just looking in the wrong places?

    thanks, Carl.

I'd be more inclined to go along with the NL advice offered on this board, unfortunately we don't have a dedicated PL section here.

A good PL player to speak to also would be dalecooper, he can offer you some good advice I should suspect.

seems to me that pl skills are pretty close to nl skills
I mean, how often do you put in more than pot sized bets anyway?

TJ Cloutier's book "Championship nolimit and potlimit holdem" deals with pl (mostly tournament I think). It's received mixed reviews: some think it's great while others have been more lukewarm. I've only browsed it in the bookshop, but it seems more "conversational" and filled with "advice" rather than theoretical/analytical like Sklasky.
