There are too many people in that pot. You need to raise to isolate if you are going to do this and you also can't do this out of position.

    himself fucker.
Rippy's hands are set up when he establishes himself as the aggressor PREFLOP.

That field is huge and you should know your opponents tendencies to call big bets becuase it seems like a bluff.

Really? Every time? He talks a lot about calling pre-flop raises with crap and calling down with low pairs when he puts his opponents on overcards... except for the large field, I think this was TEXTBOOK Ripptyde. (And for me, demonstrated why I don't like making these kinds of plays.)

That's true, but then again - my read was right, and the one caller I did get hit a six-outer. I don't really feel bad about the outcome of this hand, just thought it was funny that it turned out like that.

    plus u can't bluff a short stack...

especially if your table image is shitty, i've had shorstacks call me with low pair and take the pot down...

I wasn't trying to bluff - vs. an unimproved AQ, that was a value bet.

Rippy calls all-ins with the intention of making large stack increases with good preflop odds. Rippy raises and reraises at all other times to maximize folding equity. My light just fucked up.

I agree with you. The bet was spur of the moment - I initially called in looking to hit a better hand (two pair, straight, flush).

and yes Ender is right on the money...you can't bluff a short stack
I wasn't trying to bluff the short stack. Did you notice my hand was better than the short stack's? I got sucked out on. That's not a bluff. Not only was my hand better, I *knew* it was better when short stack called. I was *hoping* that the short stack would call and everyone else would fold. The outcome of this hand was exactly as expected, except they hit their 6 outer.

In this case I would have either folded or reraised pre flop
You're probably right about that, if I'm looking to play for a pair. Usually when I play small suited hands (connectors or gapped cards) I'm not trying to flop a low pair and win that way, I'm trying to get a monster and destack at least one other player. If I can come up with a straight, flush, or two pair - that's the kind of hand I'm talking about. This particular play of betting the middle pair was spur of the moment and I don't usually like to do it (because frankly, it's pretty dumb in a large field like that). But in this particular case I was right - no one else had anything, and my only caller was unpaired.

To sum up - I know my play here wasn't optimal by any means, I was just having some fun. It was a spontaneous attempt to pull a Rippy mid-hand. When I called pre-flop, I wasn't planning to go that route; the opportunity just presented itself and I thought it sounded like a good time. Didn't work out, but it doesn't especially bother me either.
