    Default How do you battle...

Boredom or anxiousnous. I seem to be doing fine on a regular basis, and then for some reason, I don't know if its out of boredom or anxiousness, I will play a stupid hand, one that I have no business or reason to play, and of course, either catch something to good to fold easily or fold on the flop, but either way getting beat in the end. I typically play $25.00 NL at Party, but have wandered into the SnG's ocasionally. It doesn't matter where I play though, it always seems to happen after aan hour to hourand a half of solid play, I just implode.

    Is multitabling the answer?

How many solid starting hands an hour should I expect to see?

If I posted this in the wrong area, please feel free to move it.

Just say to yourself before every hand. "I will stay focused and dilligent on my task to play the best winning poker I can. I will be disciplined enough to throw away crap."

I personally keep a postit on my COMP.

I fold everything worse than AA.
Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

Might also think about taking a break after an hour...

i tell myself that i will only play hands that are so superior, they will shock and awe my opponents when i show them down. i don't want to get caught playing T9o.

I like to multitable for this very reason. I don't know how I could ever stop now, to me it is the single most important difference from face to face play.

I also like to take frequent breaks. If I plan on playing four hours, I need a 10 min break each hour or I start to play like an idiot. I mean I'm not gonna drop a HOTT game or anything, but after the seat cools down I break for a bit. I try to get the dishes washed or rugs vacuumed, doing something that is really, truly boring relatively speaking. Then when I get back to the games, all of a sudden, they're not boring anymore. Amazing! It works really well and I can get some chores out of the way while I'm playing, which goes a long way with my girlfriend.
In answer to your question... it depends...

What? Are you crazy? AA is only 5:1 at best. Playing that is NOT profitable. You'll need at LEAST 7:1 to have a valuable starting hand.
