    Default Semi-Loose-Aggressive/Aggressive (SLAA)

    I play at $10 - $50 NL tables, and poker tracker says i'm at SLAA right now.

    Granted, i'm still not even at 10k hands, so it may not even be right about me (though I would have picked that or TA for myself before even getting poker tracker ), but it is enough to make me wonder....

    Is SLAA a good or bad style at the lower limit tables?

    Is TA better than SLA when playing at the $10 - $25 NL tables?

    Thanks
    David

    What hands does a SLAAg play that a TAg doesnt?

    I may want to become a SLAAg just to call myself a SLAAg.

    TA = VP$IP < 20%
    SLAA = VP$IP 20% to 30%

    I'm just wondering what actual hands this equates to...

    If you know your opponents are weak, I don't see why it would be unprofitable to play in more hands with them.

    So long as your SLAAg-ness is closer to 25 than 30.

    I'm a SLAAg and proud of it. 22%-26% VP$IP. Seems to pay pretty well for exactly the reasons 'rilla mentioned.
    I run a training site...

    Check out strategy videos at GrinderSchool.com, from $10 / month.

    I think I read somewhere that it basically means playing the same cards, but without regard to position.

    I'm SLAAg and PROUD!

    I play raised low PP (w/implied odds), Raise out of position with KJo, AJo, ATo, crap like that. But I don't play many group 3-6 hands, unless (maybe) I'm on the button. I think the SLAAg rating may be from the additional bets out of position that brings up one's VPiP%, and not the cards one picks to play. My VPiP% has also dropped with moves up limits (more respect for the other players' bets?)
    IMO, I think the SLAGG percentage range is a bit wide, and I would like to stay in the bottom half of the range, 20-25%.

    I tend to play Axs and Kxs when I can limp in cheap against deep pockets, Other than that I dont know of any specific hands I play diffrently.

    Yuck.

    Flush draws are difficult to hit and destack someone. Replace Axs with suited/offsuited connectors and Kxs with high(ish) suited one gappers, And I'll let you pass.

    We should differentiate between limit and no-limit when having these dicussions. In the context of no-limit, no one can agrue with 'rilla's comment. (if you do elect to argue with him, I bid you good luck )

    Suited Aces and Kings are EV+'ve hands to play in most (loose) low limit games provided you know that even if you hit top-pair you have to be willing to muck your hand unless you also pair your kicker (even still, a low paired kicker can be counterfeited pretty easily) and/or pick up a strong flush draw.

    On a relative basis, with solid post-flop play, being a slag in limit is better than being one in no-limit. (however, you had better not be a slag by virtue of habitually playing off-suit hands out of position and/or cold-calling).

    Here's another one I like to live by "Not all suited connectors are created equal" ... e.g 89s is way better than 23s!

    I always defined suited connectors as 45s - 9Ts.

    This may sound stupid, but i can't figure out how to get PT to auto-rate me, unless i set all the parameters myself, and i'm not sure where a good place to set them is.

    I just read your reply on the "PL vs. NL" thread, and loved that point.

    Connectors are are a lot easier to get people to bet into, and what you said makes sense to me.

    I'm going to start following that advice now.

    The Axs and Kxs -- yeah I play those out of position and make more money with the "you-held-on-to-that-crap?!"-two-pair or with the bicycle straight than with the flush. But overall the Kxs have been chip-losing hands.

    I'm not seeing that option anywhere...

    Smile
    Utilities->Auto Rate Players
    Step 1 - Make sure the 'Don't Rate Me' box is unchecked
    Step 2 - Click 'Default Rules'
    Step 3 - Click 'Rate Players Now'

    if you can't find this you must have an old version of pokertracker

    What about JTs?
    sure it makes one less straight, but w/ JT, every one is going to be the nut straight (I realise that u are playing for more than just a straight).
