from what I have read,
You simply change the values of position according to how many players remain to act behind you.
For instance in a ten handed game, late position is defined as having 0-1 players to act behind you, this stays the same in a short game.
Middle position is generally defined as having 2-4 players to act behind you, so in a short game of 6 players, the third and fourth seat are middle position.
There is essentially no early position, although in a particularly loose game I might play seat 3 as early.
A six handed table has a lot more bluffing, but I have found that you still need a good hand to win most of the time. It isn't until you get down to four handed that simple aggression works.
