    Default No action

i was wonderin what the hell i should do when the people i play against constantly will not play any hands against that i raise even a minimum. tonight i had AK raised $2 on a table with over $400 on it and everyone folded. 1 kid even said "who raised? o him, no way i'm out"

    In short: raise more.

Don't wait for the best hand to throw in a raise. If no one will play you because your raises are too respected, then raise with marginal hands some of the time. You'll either pick up some pots that you shouldn't have gotten or you'll end up showing down a hand that proves when you raise you may not have the goods. This sets you up for returning to your usual style of play and making your raises matter more.

I know rip was thinking this but he left out the good old position raise w/ marginal hands. Nothing wrong w/ raising AJ, KJ, KQ and medium pocket pairs from middle to late position.

Online with non-observant opponents, you can camp out and play nothing but premium hands and often you will still get action. It seems that you need to find a new venue where people don't have a read on you or start to mix up your play a little.

You could also start stealing their blinds with crap, continually... then after a few steals. start showing that you are playing with crap and keep stealing until they play back.

If you play postflop well, you'll probably end up even after this exercise (once they start playing back at you) and then they will be ripe to eat your monster when you get it.

I ran into the same problem with my homegame. This strat worked out well for me.

its not even huge raises that scare em away. i got AA on one hand and there was no pre flop raise, i wasnt about to go raising in the hopes someone would catch high pair and stick around. the flop comes rag rag king with 2 spades so i decided i have to throw in a little. with 50c blinds i raise $1 and everyone's a lawn chair.

i think my playing to tight might come from online. you have to play tight online cause it seems like half the hands are rigged. 4 sets of pockets on one hand, 3 flushes at once, i only like to play the nuts.

als with the game last night i cant do anything but play tight. i get to the game late with a few people sitting around with 150+. i only had 30 bucks, i cant play aggressive with $30 v 150. first hand i got was pocket 8's, there was a $20 raise after the flop with a king on the board so obviously i assume my 8's are junk and toss em. they ended up winning with 6's

p.s. could someone tell me what "gutshot" means?
