 New but Not New
Hello FTR, it's wonderful to see that you're still here and thriving. My name's Eli, and I was a frequent member of this site back in 2007 under the handle: Unibomber14 (I've since decided that was a terrible name, as it was lame and also misspelled.)
Anyway, back when I was playing regularly, I started playing .05/.1 with a bankroll of $100. I ran it up until I was comfortably 4-tabling 50nl 6-max in about 7 months of grinding. With the money I made playing live, I ended up making a little over $10k. Unfortunately, I found other interests as a 21 year old in the military does, and started to lose focus. I decided that I would stop playing before I started to hemorrhage money from waning attention, and then poker in the U.S. was snuffed out like so many matches in the gutter. For good or bad, I'd already spent most of my bankroll by that time anyway.
The reason I thought it was important to share that story is because I don't really credit myself with success back then. I credit FTR with providing me the resources and the knowledge to play to the best of my abilities, and also a place to come and hang with fellow sharks (I remember the games of Werewolf that were pretty awesome, and I placed well in a couple FTR Gaunlet tournaments). Now, I'm once again on the great poker adventure, and ready to go back to school.
Players I'm looking forward to chatting with (if they're still around): gabe, jyms, bigspenda, a500lbgorilla, spoon, etc. I know some of you are still here. Love all you guys, even though you probably don't remember me.
