    Your dietary habits affect your exercise results to a great extent.     After the Low carb and Intermittent fasting threads this couldn't be better timed. There is absolutely nothing in the OP that is true or viable. If your looking to make considerable changes in body composition and health, the old school thinking is so "yesterday" that it's irrelevant.

    I've heard that line before...that the 30-60? minutes after a workout are some sort of critical time that if your provide your body with <whatever nutrients>, then it'll recover better from your workout and get better results.

    I've never bothered looking into it, is there any truth to that?

    No truth at all. There has been nothing shown that over a 24 or 48 hour period that you are more anabolic if you eat immediately after a workout. There is a lot more to anabolism and catabolism than just meal timing, Now if your an athlete or playing multiple games, practices or doing a lot more than a 1-2 hour workout there is a need for different nutritional strategies but for us, nope.

    If you don't eat, your muscles won't wither away in the next few hours no matter how hard you worked out.
