Default Play or fold? Bet river or check?

Villain at this stage is 20/12, Steal 11% but 0 from 1 in SB, cbet 63% and AGG only 1.4 sample only 29 hands though.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (BB) ($18.01)
    UTG ($10.10)
    UTG+1 ($15.29)
    MP1 ($10.41)
    MP2 ($10.04)
    CO ($10.10)
    Button ($4)
    SB ($15.98)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, 2
6 folds, SB bets $0.30, Hero calls $0.20

Was considering just folding as SB hasn't been stealing alot and a weak A could get me into real trouble, however I call because I do have the A and with the 2 have a straight possibility.

No real reads on SB so I put him on any PP, A2s+, A9+, 78s+

So first question is for opinions on whether I should have been calling or simply folding this one away?

    Flop: ($0.60) A, 3, 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.34, Hero calls $0.34

I figure this is a pretty standard cbet and so I don't narrow his range at all at this stage.

I call because with weak A I don't want to be shoving too much into the pot just yet and I figure I'll see what he does on the turn.

    Turn: ($1.28) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $0.80, Hero calls $0.80

I now put him on sets, TT-KK, Ax and FD. I figure 22, 44-66 and 88 he would check.

Tbh, I'm still not good on the math in the heat of the moment so I didn't completely know if this is a good call or not at the time.

After the fact I used pokerstove to come up with this............

    Board: Ac 3h 7c 9d
    Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 36.364% 32.34% 04.02% 1295 161.00 { Ah2c }
    Hand 1: 63.636% 59.62% 04.02% 2387 161.00 { 99+, 77, 33, A2s+, KcQc, QcJc, JcTc, Tc9c, 9c8c, 8c7c, A9o+ }

So I have 36% equity against this range with a call of 27% so I guess it's ok right?

    River: ($2.88) 5 (2 players)
    SB checks, Hero ???

I now put him on busted FD, A with pretty weak kicker, TT-KK.

FD wont call anything, TT-KK might call but I think it's unlikely and A weak kicker probably would but any kicker over a 5 has beat.

So if it's a value bet it would have to be pretty thin...........maybe $0.70-$1 ?

Yup, check river, then hand is played perfectly.

    bet/fold about $1.10.

Check out this post for a reason why:

Granted, you're IP and playing less than .5/1 so it's not technically a bet/fold, but I'd still bet ~1/3 pot to get some value from the hands you are beating which might call. (The fold would come to a large c/r)

I must confess, I really want to see what sb has raised my bb with in these kind of spots when we have small sample, so one reason I'm checking is so I can definitely see. I do have to ask though, how often is KK calling a river bet here? Not nearly enough to justify betting imo, but let's see what others think.

I just check against this villain. Against other villains I may bet for value or bet as a bluff. But against this guy I just check.

    Interesting read, thanks.

I chose to check as I really didn't see any hand that would likely call that didn't have me beat. Plus as OngBonga pointed out checking gave me the chance to see his hand which was good information.

He showed QQ and that together with his low steal % had me leaving a note for future reference which I think might be more valuable than a small bet here.

3-bet or fold pre vs this guy.
