Default Cash-Fish to Mad Rich: A New Beginning

Ayy! So I got inspired today, to make my way back into poker. It's been a while, but I'm fairly certain I am back to stay. Up until now I've always been an MTT/MTTSNG player. I had some decent success, but the variance got to be too much for me, and I eventually faded away.

Now! I have the motivation to become a profitable cash player. I just finished reading M2M's Op's and I feel very much determined to make a triumphant return to poker. I do not care how long it takes, I do not care that I will spend countless hours grinding for pennies. I want to do this, and so I shall. I know this will take me a very long time, a lot of hard work, but most of all, I know I will need help. I hope to meet some great people, and share our experiences, as we storm the micros, in search of our dreams.

I will update this every few days to track my progress from cash-fish, to mad rich.

Here's to a new beginning. A fresh start. A chance to re-learn the game from the utmost beginner's basics.

    Cheers!

welcome GL. The only thing I wish I did when starting out was put in a lot more hours less hiatuses and take it more seriously

    Good luck.

this free video series is going to be a perfect place for you to start.Hopefully give you the basis of a solid cash game which can then be worked on.

where are you based . i.e are you able to play euro sites/stars etc

Are you utilising first deposit bonuses / kick back deals to get your bankroll growing. Do you have tracking software , if not you can use kickback deals to get some relatively cheaply.

depending on sites have you got a chance to get rakeback?

Agreed, same thoughts here....used to be a pretty active player, but I've taken too many breaks. Time to stick to it!!

    Keith:

    Awesome! Thanks for the link

This will most likely be run solely on Pokerstars (I'm located in Canada). I have no way to deposit, and so the 33$ I have online currently, is all I have. I hope to be able to turn it into something. I just got the 30 day trial of HM2, which will help immensely. I'll post my stats/graph periodically to get feedback..

    Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Sigh, hitting a few roadblocks. Seems I cant win anything....down about 2.50 over 1150 hands.

Not sure if it's just variance, but the whole -10.49bb/100 isn't making me to thrilled.

Gonna keep at it, because well, 1k hand is pretty minuscule in the grand scheme of things.

Head up, 'cuz I know I can still turn this around.

    Let's goooo.

dont even bother looking at your bb/100 atm just focus on making correct decisions. 1k hands is like 1 session for me so yeah it doesn't mean anything. Keep studying gl

Yeah I know the sample means nothing...it's just frustrating when I can't seem to get anything to come my way. Especially knowing that if I DO go busto, I can't redeposit.

Im goin to bed, cant be bothered to do this anymore tonight. The more I play, the more I lose. Really not sure what I'm doing wrong(albeit I'm sure there is heaps I'm doing wrong) I think I'm playing relatively good poker. I just can't seem to beat these 44/2 fish who dont ever fold to bluffs, and then basically min bet when you give up and check. Ugh, frustrating me just talking about it, I need some sleep. Good night.

Another day, another shot. I hope tomorrow starts to turn around for me.

have a think about what you have written there . How many of the 101 videos have you watched , how many notes have you made on them , what are your opening and calling ranges from each position. how should you play pre and post flop .If you had studied those videos you wouldn't be making that statement and you would be explaining why what you have written is so arse about facedthat you are failing to exploit them.

I'll be honest, I only watched like half of the first lecture. Just downloaded all of them, I'll be watching them tonight/tomorrow. Thanks for the link, I'll update after watching them, I may play a couple tables tonight, but I may just wait to watch the full series.

    Either way, thank you

Well, 3 lecture vids, and 3 action vids in...Seems pretty boring, but pretty simple.

Although I decided to try it out, and low and behold, results got worse. got runner runnered to lose a set for a stack vs 69s, then AK<A5 on an AK5 board. Just not my day I guess....Really hoping this turns soon, or my journey is gonna be over before it really begins.

Tomorrow I plan to 4 table, for at least four 2 hour sessions(with breaks of course). I'll post at the end of the day.

look at the hands you lost stacks with ....you got runner runnered,. in other words you got the money in with massive equity . that is a licence to print money. that is why 101 works you have strong hands that dominate you opponents .similarly with the ak hand he hit his 2 outer ...i.e just under 10% chance . so 1 in 10 times he makes 2$ , the other 9 times you make 18$ for a net profit of 16$ or $1.60 per hand.

Kind of depressing really that you have a system given to you that works at 2nl , watch part of it and try it out . Why not watch all the lecture videos so you know the theory behind the system, make notes on it learn your ranges and how you should be playing. then watch the action videos, go through them slowly , pause before each play ,decide what you would do and why, then see how the hand actually got played and the reasons why. That is how you (and your results) will improve . the guy making the vids was playing 400nl when black friday hit
a post i made from another thread asking if 101 worked

You think it is severely limited because you haven't studied it and implemented it fully and alienated the people who would have helped you.
ATM from ftr without any coaching and being shown how to adapt as he moves up

although i should disregard the slevin reference , he didn't have the discipline to implement the strategy.
