Best game to determine skill
I was playing in a 6-max $11 SNG on FT last night. I had T8s in the BB during one of the first few hands. Blinds were 15/30 and everybody had about 1500.
UTG min raised to 60. Three players called, and I called another 30. The flop was T83 with a flush draw on the board. I guess the pot was a little over 300 at that point and I bet about 250. UTG re-raises to 550, everyone else folds I and shove all-in. Pretty standard line I think.
Anyway, he shows 99 and loses. Suddenly the chatbox blows up about what a fish I am for calling his raise with T8, blah blah blah.
Then he says something that I actually see alot when people get into those kind of discussions. "Let's play HU". Or sometimes they will offer to play HU for some outrageous stakes. If I'm playing $11 SNG's, obviously I dont' want to play HU for $100.
Anyway, since I see this ALOT, I was wondering if HU is truly a measue of a player's overall skill in relation to another player?
If you wanted to measure one player's ability against another, how would you do that? Or could you even do it?
