Default Straight facing River shove 150bb

I have less than 10 hands on villain and no real reads. The SB, is semi tight and not the type raise his draws, nor is he prone to slow playing.

I need 33% equity for this to be a snap call, problem is I can't put him on a decent range. As a preflop raiser he should have 22+, ATs+, and many suited broad ways.

I know that in a 4 way pot when he checks he has marginal hand. I check behind because my draw is too good to give up to a check raise and I have little fold equity.

Turn brings my nut card, he bets small. I can see lots of flush draws doing this and possible 98 and 88 (though should be disconnected). I think my raise size is appropriate, though it could have been .50 bigger. His turn call raise calling range is fairly similar.

When SB calls he exclusive has some type of draw based on what I observed of his playing style, maybe JJ-QQ is in there. SB check on the river signifies he is done.

The river did not improve most of the villains range besides 98 and 88. Yet, at the same time, I don't see I hand he would bluff with against my apparent strength. Not to mention that 98 should be discounted since many people wouldn't raise that up pre. Affectingly I can put him on 1 combo 88 and fold. or if I through in some weirdly played JJ or 67s, I am golden. But, if I can through in weirdly played JJ, I should through in slow played flopped sets as well.

JJ-88,55,98s,76s (That's pretty wide range) Which makes this snap call, but seems like im stretching. What other hands can I include in this unknowns range.

Fold seems fine here, but I'm pretty coked out atm. (Nyquil ftw!)

Highly unlikely he's snapjamming 67 since there's a ton of boats and other straights that beat him now. Just fold and save yourself 116bbs.

gross spot, but i guess its still a fold. too many boats out here and 67 will be jamming the turn a decent amount of the time

Shouldn't you also have QJ in their ranges?

Smells pretty bad, on a paired board one of them is going to show up with a boat or quads pretty often. Slow playing a set 4-way on this flop is so bad that quads are more likely.

Yeah, David. I agree that quad is more likely than a slow played set. But that seems dumb to even write considering there are 10x more sets out there than there are quads.

Put it this way: MP1's line is correct all along only with 88. If he has any other set or QJ or even 67 it is seriously misplayed (not impossible, I guess). If he raises 98s preflop, then his turn call is also incorrect with only 4 outs.

Either that or he reads you like a book and is trying to bluff the river.

Then I am also not 100% that SB is done here (although he most likely is). If he hit a set of eights on the turn, he may have planned to check raise or be wary of a possible straight. The action then convinced him that he is up against a straight and he calls to boat up.

    Any spoiler or everyone folded?

I time bank down. I made the call based on the fact that he is only repping 88 and no one would slow play a set on flop. He flips TT. I think this comes down to the fact that my range is so strong here and it would take a true manic to bluff here. Though, there is case for 67s, but he was MP. It isn't a clear cut situation, but should be a fold.

    Results oriented ITT.

TT, really? Did he maybe have a reason to think that you were going to bet the flop if checked to?

Lol he's bad at poker if he has TT.

Like, i said I had nearly no hands on him and he must as well have no hands on me. Not to mention even if he had tons of hands on me, I am never betting here without set, or over pair. Any thoughts on that statement?

Not sure what you mean, but if you are saying that if you were in his boots you would never c-bet the flop without an overpair or set, I agree 100%. Obviously it also means that if you do bet the flop, you practically turn your hand over. And it also means that if you don't bet the flop with a set or overpair, you totally misrepresent your hand, which may be a good play in some circumstances, like heads up against a good player.

Still, in a 4-way pot like here, I can't see how it can be right to slowplay. That's pretty much equivalent to giving up your hand if you don't boat up.

Sidenote, out of topic: !Luck, I know you beat 5NL, which I just started playing myself since I am now rolled for it. Can you have a look at that 99 hand I posted and tell me if it's always an auto-fold? Is pure set mining profitable at 5NL or should I try an opportunistic play like this one time to time? I find the difference between 2nl and 5nl quite staggering, to be honest.

smells like fold there to me. pot is relatively small on river can't see how u can call there given the prelfop action. i think this spot all comes down to whether he would be bad enuf to take that line with 2 pair , lower straights. given the information you supllied in this hand i would fold river , scratch my head and say ' i just made the best lay down ever' , while deep down you feel like an idiot. just love poker!
