PLO- bet sizing on turn when you cant stand a check-raise
I'm new to PLO and I am noticing a reoccurring situation that happens to me and I'm never sure what the best play is. It happens when I bet the flop with a hand that figures to be ahead of villains calling range and then I am checked to again on a blank turn.
Some turn cards I will obviously shut down but there are some turns where I do not really want to give a free card but I also do not want to bet pot and risk getting check raised off my hand. This happens a lot when I have overpairs on dry boards or draws that have picked up more equity on the turn.
My question is how do I determine when I should be double barreling in these spots and about how much of the pot should I bet? Is it okay to give more free cards on the turn? In my mind this will induce a lot of players to fire the river and it will put me to tougher decisions.
Here is a sample hand to illustrate what I am talking about:
PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha, $0.02 BB (5 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
SB ($1.63)
BB ($1.81)
UTG ($3.21)
MP ($2.96)
Hero (Button) ($3.19)
Preflop: Hero is Button with , , ,
UTG calls $0.02, MP calls $0.02, Hero bets $0.11, 2 folds, UTG calls $0.09, 1 fold
Flop: ($0.27) , , (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.26, UTG calls $0.26
Turn: ($0.79) (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero ???
I'm really confused by these spots and they seem to happen very often. Any advice is appreciated!
