Opponent hand ranges and microstakes

I've been trying to put opponents on hand ranges to improve my game, but this seems to be a common scenario: I start putting someone on a range and play my cards based on that. After about 10 minutes I realize 7 out of the 9 people at the table "could have anything at any time, regardless of of anything logical."

So I guess what I'm asking is: should I even bother putting opponents on ranges at these stakes?

yes you should. If they are showing up with hands in their ranges that you aren't accounting for you either (1) suck at forming ranges or (2) need to re-assign their ranges. I'm willing to bet #1 or #2 apply in your situation, and this isn't meant as a flame. Many micro players come in with this claim that villains can have anything, when it's generally not true, and their belief that it is is due in part to their lack of hand reading skills.

Review hands after your session and put people on ranges there and see how you go. The more practice you do, even away from the table, the more of a feel for it you should develop.

Stacks is right. Its very easy to think "well he couldnt have AT because I would have folded it preflop". Then when youre wrong over and over you start to think people are playing random cards. In reality even the worst players arent going to showdown with 2 unpaired cards and no draw very often. Usually the worst you will see is middlish pairs or gutshot draws. If thats what they will play then thats the range you play against.
