    Hand 1.
I don't think the smoothcall is bad, PF, It depends on whether you think he'd call a 3ball with AJ or AT or KQ or something like that.

As for your 2.70 re-raise, I don't know whether I like it or not, because I don't know your stack sizes. I'm inclined to argue though, that if he has something like AJ or AT, that he would have stacked himself if you'd have called here and called the turn and then blew up on the river.

    Hand 2, I fold but I'm a nit.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

I tend to call the AQ and fold the KJ.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Hand 1 - Call or 3bet depending on stats. I doubt I would ever fold preflop here. I say here because villain is isolating a limper from the Button. Always calling/3betting AQo from the SB is not correct. If say UTG opens, and it folds to you, this is not the same as this situation where BU is isolating a limper. UTG would have a stronger range, and therefore playing AQo OOP might not be +EV. Here BU has a wider range, one that AQo is more than likely +EV to play against.

To determine whether you should call or 3bet depends on what villain's tendencies are, and what the best way to exploit those tendencies are. If he is opening a wide range here, but only calling a 3bet with a very narrow range, such as {JJ+, AK+), then I believe calling preflop with AQ is better here. If he's opening a wide range, and calling 3bets with a wide range {22+, AT+, KQ+, QJ, etc}, then 3betting might be best, as he is calling with a fair number of worse hands.

Hand 2 - This can go either way, call/fold/3bet. To make the best decision, you need to identify the villain, either through reads/stats, and determine the best way to exploit his weaknesses.
