    Default Poker eureka moments

I’m sure we’ve all had a few of these.

Say you’re thinking about poker while driving to work. Maybe you’re looking at the latest Negreanu interview on a poker news site. Or even thumbing through the latest Ed Miller book while taking a dump.

Then suddenly it hits you. Your head explodes. You discover some little gem that has a profound effect on your poker thinking, something that you know will boost your winrate before you’ve even tried it out. When you’ve had one of these poker revelations, have you ever:

    [ ] broke into a huge grin
[ ] had a sudden surge of adrenaline or sensation of being alive
    [ ] shouted / swore out loud
[ ] started telling the first person you see all about it
[ ] loaded up the poker right fucking now
[ ] banged your partner / given yourself a sleeper
    [ ] peed a little
    [ ] other (please specify)

Please give details of the notion that took your poker to the next level and made you pee a little, thank you. Hopefully we can all share the wisdom.
Congratulations, you've won your dick's weight in sweets! Decode the message in the above post to find out how to claim your tic-tac

back before i ever played any sort of winning poker, i had this moment when i read renton's SS FR guide and i started to learn what it actually meant to play draws aggressively.

i went to the tables and whenever i was dealt AhJh IP, i just prayed for two hearts. i didn't even want a J or an A 'cause that was too easy. i wanted to pwn noobs 'cause i didn't know anything about EV and how plays are only profitable over a large sample and all that crap.

same thing with reading spoonit's raising behind limpers guide. when i was on the BU i didn't want AK, i wanted K9o and for some 50/0 to limp.

same thing with learning about 3ballin'. i get dealt A3s on the BU and i don't want it to fold to me so i can steal the blinds. no i want someone to PFR so i can show off my new knowledge....even if they are under the gun.....and are running 96/1 with 0% fold to 3bet.

so i guess my response is:

[ x ] other: i load up FTP and play cocky poker and have a B/E session

Canada; the country all tucked away down there...
When I first started coming here I was playing too many hands at the 2nl micros, and playing passively. Id limp w/ A4 in EP and get 3 -4 callers and hit the A on the flop. The hand would go to showdown with a smallish pot and the opponent would turn over A8....fuck.

I read the "5 Biggest Leaks" article (Spenda's I think?) and it became pretty clear why I was playing so passive and how position and hole card strength was so important...

    My response:
[X] Loaded up the poker table

Yea loaded up the tables and dropped a shitload.

When I had a AHA moment revolving around 8+out draws and FE I went mental playing bad hands in bad positions. I dropped a ton thinking that I had way more FE than actually existed and calling way too many bets OOP preflop trying to play hands that might hit a draw.

Gonna say Renton's ABCD Theorem changed my game. I'm always throwing this out there...but it really is incredible.
That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.
