Default 10NL: TPTK vs. possible straight/two-pair

    http://weaktight.com/1167350

Villain is 45/10/1.1 over 74 hands

Is the turn the better spot to check...or did I play this right?

    $0.05/$0.1 No Limit Holdem
    7 players
    Converted at weaktight.com

    Stacks:
    Hero (UTG) ($10.00)
    UTG 1 ($6.30)
    MP ($5.65)
    CO ($8.95)
    BTN ($14.35)
    SB ($4.75)
    BB ($1.85)

    Pre-flop: ($0.15, 7 players) Hero is UTG
Hero raises to $0.45, UTG 1 calls $0.45, 2 folds, BTN calls $0.45, 2 folds

    Flop: ($1.50, 3 players)
Hero bets $1, UTG 1 folds, BTN calls $1

    Turn: ($3.50, 2 players)
Hero bets $2, BTN calls $2

    River: ($7.50, 2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $6, Hero folds

    Final Pot: $7.50

    BTN wins $13.15 ( won $3.70 )
    Hero lost -$3.45
    UTG 1 lost -$0.45
That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

you have top-pair top kicker if he didn't slow play AA or KK. He flat calls down to the river. He thinks your hand is weak after your check and he is trying to steal the pot. He might have KQ or AJ.
The turned could have been checked in case he had AK.

    Say whaaaaa?

OP - is the turn THE better spot to check? Are you assuming you have to play certain hands for, as example, 2 streets only? You should know why in most cases you get two streets vs. certain players on certain boards.

Anyways, any reads? Hi preflop stats, I'd love to be acquainted with your postflop tendencies/stats/reads too please. Your hand probably looks good regardless but more reads/postflop stats help tremendously, even if we have such few hands there may be a huge leak to be exploited.

If it wasn't 10 on the turn that may complete possible straights, i would have certainly bet there.

What made you check the river? Villain is kind of a spewtard?

I think I might c/c turn - donk river or bet/(fold??) turn - bet/fold(for sure) river but I definately don't think I'd check the river here if I bet turn and was just called...but I'd be tempted to put in sort of a blocking bet and wouldn't expect it to get raised - in the case that it does here, you'd be beat.

Im at least betting half pot on river/ c/c. I just don't see how we are beat just because villain bets 2/3pot on river? Am I missing something? Are we assuming we've been slowed?

I'd c/c turn and c/f river if he bets again
some people will check behind a really strong hand on the river like JT and only value bet a straight

but a donk will only try to bluff you one street most of the time, his stats certainly don't look maniacal

the problem is that he has only one hand that he pays off a river shove with and that's QK
if he had more hands behind our range I'd go for three streets of value
