10nl I went looking for trouble here..

The villain in this hand has been playing noticeably more loose than everyone at the table, but so have I up to this point. Everyone pretty much kept on folding around so I was pretty comfortable opening a wide range. Hes 3 bet my button open once already prior to this hand and ive also seen him do this against another player at the table. And mind you this has all been within a pretty short amount of time. On this particular hand I decided to stick around and my plan was to get real aggressive if i flopped anything decent. I know I messed up big time here but I dont know exactly "what" I did wrong. Should I have even been in the hand to begin with?

Also, im thinking I messed up with my bet sizing on the flop.. When he jammed I basically wanted to just die. If im going to take this line, would it have been better to jam?

I fold PF, bad hand to open with MP. Also at low stakes, 1/2 pot bet on 2 tone flop is a good warning that he's drawing too. Decide here if your 9 is high enough to continue and call or fold.

Most importantly don't play this. Tightening up vs loose players will lead to less frustration. Sorry he had you beat from the start.

Fold PF. You need to get at least AT LEAST 10x the raise.. and more is better.

the Semi-bluff raise is a pretty high-brow move. He may not have been smart enough to fold to it at these levels. The call on the flop is solid because you're getting 2-1. The only thing I'd be sorta worried about is that the raise had 0 FE, which means that you put all of your money in as a 2-1 dog. Which is bad business.

If you think he folds enough of a percent of the time here so that Pot Equity + Fold equity = 51%, go nuts have fun good luck

PF call is debatable for sure; however, as long as your IP it's not "awful" by any means. Post-flop is good ol' fashion variance, nothing wrong with that.

Raising PF is perfectly fine. Whether I would call the 3b or not depends largly on how SB has bee playing. If he's been playing unreasonably tight, then don't get involved.

Raise on the flop needs to be bigger - but I guess you figured that out yourself

first of all, 89s is perfectly fine to open
if your range for opening here is JTs+ then you're too tight

this is why calling pre is fine since he's doing this with lots of different hands and we're in position and his 3b size is small (it should be like 1.8)

i think the call pf is shaky ground at best. the problem with calling with 89s like you did is exactly what happened on the flop. I'm never laying it down in this spot and i'd lose just the same.

The call of the 3b pf is where I think the hand went wrong. At these stakes, just give up, normally you're against JJ+, especially when you raised pf that big too. Otherwise as played I don't like psuhing my stack in on a draw, normally you look like a gambling fiend when you do that..
