semi bluf on turn

    Default semi bluf on turn

Have no reads or stats on villain. Let's assume a normal player.

I bet out the flop because I have a pretty big draw. I expect him to raise my bet a fair amount of the time, especially when he has an overpair. He does just that and the turn gives us even more outs. I decide to c/r allin because I think we have a lot of fold equity? If he doesn't fold, I still have a shitload of outs anyway. Good play right?

    CO ($100)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9, 7

    Something sounds results oriented here.

It's a good, but high-variance play. You have good fold equity against overpairs or overcards. But you also have to realize that to a decent player, it looks exactly like what it is, a flush-draw semi-bluff. If you actually had 66 here, you might Check/raise, but probably not massively overbet push like you did. You wouldn't be "scared" and try to get him to fold... Many times a smaller raise is scarier than a push.

Jimmy is right though, 3-bet flop to $40 is better than turn C/R.

i usually like to have some sort of information about my opponent before im pulling off such a move. either way i dont like peeling preflop, this could be a nice squeeze spot, but overcalling kinda sucks.

as played your line looks weird enough to get looked up a lot. you´re basically repping 56/66 or a draw. 30% equity vs a range of TT+ and NFD when called, so meh. As jimmy said, id much rather b/3b the flop.

MP's bet-sizing looks pretty weak here. His flop raise looks weak-ass, if he had a hand he wanted to protect (i.e. an overpair) I think he'd raise more. I'd be surprised if he called and flipped up TT+ here, he's just as likely to have a hand like yours. Unless it's a loltarp of course, but who traps on a board like that vs flatcall from the BB?

Ok, this isn't a normal call for me. To play such a hand I would need position. But from his point of view, he opens and one player coldcalls, i'm in the BB and call as well. I could have a few 5s in my range here? It seems very spewy to call the push with any overpair at least...

After thinking it over I agree with you guys I think b/3bet flop is better and looks even stronger. He snapcalled btw and turned over J5o

Well then I guess the jokes on us for assuming he's a normal player

FWIW if I'm villain I'm probably raising flop more and checking behind on the turn with a lot of my weaker overpairs, looking to call a river bet on a blank or value betting if checked to. Everything I bet again on the turn I'll call a shove with because it looks so wierd. Whether that makes me a normal player or a donk I don't know
