3rd place in my first cash SNG (and more drunk SNGs)

I played a $1+$0.20 SNG at PokerStars, and I placed ITM in my first ever real money game. Sure, I only won a few cents, but I'm proud! Thanks to everyone at FTR for all the great FAQs and advice. I read through a ton of them before I even considered playing for real money.

I wish I had my hand history because I would definitely post it for criticism; hopefully I'll be able to post my next one. Suffice it to say that I didn't get any good hands, really, but I feel like I got my money in good and made appropriate bluffs and c-bets that took down a few pots. To win 3rd without getting a single nuts hand is good enough for me!

So thanks to everyone. Oh, and it is all sweeter considering that I'm slightly drunk. I could conquer the world sober!

I figured that with the range of players at this level, Ax was less than a 50% possibility (underpair, Kx, 4x, etc.), so I was willing to call all-in. Was that a bad idea?

Note: I feel that being drunk makes it easier to fold marginal hands (harder to get bored) and to go all-in with ATC (when the time is right), so I don't feel that it's a terrible idea to be slightly drunk, as long as you're still playing tight/aggressive early on.

Sorry, but my Firefox has a spell check, so I'm not likely to screw up on the spell-checking front. It's more likely that I screw up on the poker-playing front (or that my roommates come tell me that I'm too loud when they have to teach the next day), though, which is definitely worse.

OK, so playing drunk is probably -EV, and it's also annoying to my roommates, who have to work this morning. I lost $1.70 overall, but I'm okay with that, considering that I spent over $7 on Taco Bell tonight. Apparently, pushing 4/5 of the time as chip leader is not the best idea, but I think it was +EV the majority of the time. The only time it was really bad was when I called someone all-in, but most of the time, I was leading in those instances and just got beat.

Anyways, I had fun, I didn't do too bad, and my roommates are slightly pissed (one is a teacher and is at work right now). So play sober and don't sing too loud if you want to win and not piss off your roommates .

Hand 11: Just fold J4o, it has really bad playability
Hand 15: You don't have a better hand than him so no use calling all in (he only had 25 chips left so it's you who REALLY called all in)
Hand 18: Dump to a raise, MAYBE call if suited
Hand 23: You want to NOT call shoves with A8s, you want to SHOVE with A8s. There is a difference because of fold equity.
Hand 30: I dump J3o PF.
Hand 33: Don't minraise and don't call a shove. You have an easily dominated hand. You're behind A2o and 22. If you decided that you were going to call a push anyway, just open push. He probably would have folded that hand if you open pushed.
Hand 38: Stop calling shoves with king high. Open shove instead if you were going to call.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you on all of these. I just got push/call happy at this point, and it definitely negatively impacted my play.
