    Default Super Brag

I come to this table where theres a 63/31 with a 800 dollar stack. I say im gonna stack him and thats what i do. I think i may post the entire HH because it's hilarious. The guy was horrible. When it got deep I was literally playing every had because his betting was so ridiculously obvious.

Annoyingly, the image is small but it says $940.

My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

Here they are! gvpoker is the idiot

We were so deep that I had to call, i was pretty much calling any of initial donks raises because his betting patterns we're really obvious. I had barely enough odds to hit the straight on the turn.

Ugh. In all honesty this looks less like outplaying someone and more like playing every hand and outlucking them at their own game. Maybe I'm just being a dick though because I'm jealous that my luck is shit lately. Wait for others to chirp in and see what they think, but I stand by my original assessment.

    And what the fuck dude?

It's hard to not get that impression but I think IOWA knew better what he was doing than one might suggest. He's being relentless in never giving up and applying pressure, no matter if many situations are marginal, and this will put the bad player on tilt surely. The alternative is to play normal and wait for sure shots, which is lower variance but not necessarily better I think (basically what everyone is doing probably).

The guy's betting patterns were ridiculous, I knew what he had 85% of the time. I got out of line because opp started to give me absolutely no credit.

I was to his left and he was playing almost every hand. That deep if I hit a hand i can be really golden, or i can bluff him out really easy.

64o UTG raising was because everyone at the table was so tight that it was like we were playing heads up. I wanted to continue to have a horrible image.

The T7o calling a reraise from Weak Tite. We're all 300BB deep. If he hit two pair or better I'm stacking someone because no one is giving me any credit.

I am just playing a high variance game. A lot of it was I was trying to get really deep to eventually stack this guy off. but I actually was playing tighter than the guy.

Jack, you ned to take a closer look at the hands I think.

No need to put this guy on tilt, his play style IS tilt.

Iowa you're contradicting yourself, you're saying he is giving you no credit so you're playing more hands? If you're getting no credit why not play solid hands if you're getting paid off anyway? You also then say you could bluff him out really easily. How, if you're getting no credit?

Look, if this style is working for you that's great. I'm just saying from my experience and from reading your recent posts, you may be collapsing soon. I think you could be riding some really good short term varience. Like I said though, maybe I'm just being a pessimist because I'm hurting lately. But Warpe is another solid poster and I see he's wary of your style too.

Meh, I have a lot to learn from laggs. I'm wary because I'm generally a nit, but that doesn't mean I'm not open minded.

Iowa, I don't want to be overly critical b/c you obviously had good reads and your opponent was an idiot, but you were also getting hit in the face by the deck a lot.

How often have we seen generally solid players on FTR start running real good, ramp up the laggtardedness, keep running good and then all of a sudden hit the worst, most sustained downswing ever and wonder WTF happened to their game?

I'm not saying this is going to happen to you, but I do think you need to question your own play a little more. Your aggression is admirable. But you need to add in some better decision making if you want to stay out of spewsville.

that beind said, you did take quite a bit of money off that chump.

I'd just like to clarify this isn't at all how i play normally, i played this way to adjust to his looseness.

Anyways, I think it would be retarded to go into this thread and say all these hands were standard, cause they weren't at all. So I agree with you guys that some of these hands were spews, but i think some of them were a very odd standard because of the ridiculous table dynamics that encouraged me to play half my hands.
I think out of all the hands I played, most FTRers would've played two of them. The KK hand and the AJ hand (maybe a lot fold to the river bet), and that's it. but versus a 63/31 who's spewing all over the place I think you have to open up a lot to get Max EV, and that's what i did.

Why go way out of your way to reduce your edge against this type of player? That's just what it seemed like to me.

I think the majority of this forum is being a little close minded...

Danny (skinsfan) has gotten a 7+ buyin stacks an alarmingly high number of times (relative to the rarity of this occurence). Don't you think it's possible that there is a method to his madness?

All of the hands that he posted were from after Danny had joined the table. We don't know what the villan was like before then, but I highly doubt that he was being anything close to as crazy as he was in those HH's. When your playing THAT deepstacked you can't just raise $4 preflop, cont bet 2/3 etc. You aren't taking advantage of most players key problem deepstacked, they assume that just because you are going crazy sometimes, that you must be crazy all the time. Even for the worst of players i guarantee it's scary to put your stack of 400 BB in with anything but the nuts. But then you see this guy value push 160 dollars in when the board has 1 card to a straight!

anyways, maybe i'm just being defensive of my brother. But there is something to learn from this.
  21. #21
I see about 2 bad plays here.

The rest are pretty standard for me deep vs a donk. Iowa doesn't explain defend his plays as well as he could (i.e. " I was bluffing so he'd think I was aggro" ; lol, no, you were bluffing because you ARE aggro!) but I think playing this way is highly underrated as you become a good hand-reader and are able to win your share of pots with nothing on the river.

Ppl have exaggerated the donkishness of these hands excessively imo.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

I understand what skins was trying to do, but you also have to admit he got lucky. I've been in the same position several times recently, with a crazy limp/calling atm on my right. If you are not getting the cards (like skins obv did) then you can't stack-a-donk. If he's the one getting lucky catching 2 pair on the turn you're the one who gets stacked.

So, I kind of agree with both sides. Loosening up against someone who spews is standard, raising hands (with potential) for isolation is standard (not 46s). But skins, you can't deny you hit a heater while stacking this guy (In addition to outplaying him).

There's a lot of bad reasoning in the OP's brag hands. Combined with Iowa's stated aim of making a lot of money quickly, I think there is SERIOUS danger of busto here.

You misinterpreted. I said I wanted to take risks to get deep because the deeper i got the more +EV it was to sit at the table. In fact, the player being so bad is at serious risk to lose his stack, and i want to be able to take it before he does.

You also have to understand: I was getting way more action then the rest of the table. In fact, I believe the table falsely did what everyone on FTR would've done. They all tighten up to 5/5's. They all waited for that AA and KK to stack a donk. When it came to my raises and my bets, I was showing down 6 high and bluffs and thin calls and it was clear that opp was giving me more action because of it. Not only was opp giving me more action, the rest of the table falsely read my image. They thought I would give them more action when the truth was I wasn't going to. (Q5s hand is a bad example, shouldn't have called the minreraise, that was one of my spews IMO) Several hands it was clear they were trying to take my stack and they were very unsuccessful.

everyone is like "OMFG WHAT A FUCKING IDIOT HE'S PLAYING 64o UTG!!! We'll guess what? It might as well of been on the BU because everyone was gonna fold except idiot villan. "WELL WHY WOULDN'T YOU JUST WAIT FOR A BETTER HAND THAN 64!?" Well because the guy made really obvious betting patterns which IMO made almost playing any hand +EV.

i would like to see the hands in the order that they happened so that we can see some sort of progression of play/adjustments that are being made on either part.

there are a few hands where you clearly did not know what he had, or that he would not fold A high that cost you a fair chunk. It would be easier to analyze if we knew if these were the result of opp adjusting to you, or if they were before you had fully adjusted to him, or if you just hit some stuff near the end of the session that allowed you to take it all.

I never got this impression. I think skins is smart enough to adjust for the situation and not carry this play into his regular game.

When I said you can't deny the heater, what I meant is you can't deny you got lucky he kept getting 2nd best hands (27 vs Q2)

straight vs two pair - lucky
2pair vs overpair - lucky (put played well)
    flush vs AA - lucky
    AJ vs A2 - good
KK vs OESD - standard, obv he's an idiot
    A9 vs K9 - good with reads
straight vs J7 - maybe extra action from image so nh
trip 8 on river vs ?? - you put him on overcards, ya he sucks
KJ vs ?? - standard TPGK vs station, maybe extra action from metagame
Q2 vs 72 on 22x board - satandard vs station
58 - not sure what read you had, eww I think
    JJ - standard
J9 vs 88 - meh, 32 vs 68, lucky cuz you have little fold equity, but not horrible
64 vs A6 - meh, you know he calls too much
    K5 vs AQ - meh
    Q9 vs 33 - meh

4 - hands that are lucky in some sense (some of that luck is "standard")
    4 - meh spewy hands
2 - you played better than a "standard" would
    4 - standards
2 - obv benefit from image

Obv 5/5 is wrong, but 52/30 is prob excessive. I know what you're saying about "playing great" because I've been in a similar situation, but you have to realize what part luck plays. I kind of like the idea of occasionally 3betting him pre-flop, just to keep the others out of the hand so they don't take his money.

    Is this a big level?

Just my humble low stakes opinion but I have to be honest and say that at first glance it looks pretty bad.

(I know you didnt post the big hands in the order they were played from bottom to top but thats how I read them initially)

Hand 1: (vs very loose player - therefore rarely bluff him)
You call 2 streets with Q high and bluff raise river (- 60bb's)

Hand 2vs very loose player who has just seen you bluff raise river with Q high)
He correctly calls hard board to hit with A high
    (- 75bb)

Hand 3: (vs very loose player who has seen you bluff raise with Q high
and K high on consecutive hands vs him)
He correctly calls down with A high (- 75bb)

Hand 4: (vs loose player who now isnt even going to fold Ace high to you)
You go all in on turn with draw?
He calls correctly with 88 vs your probable range
    (- 100bb)

Hand 5vs loose player who's seen you put your stack in easily on multiple hands)
he makes speculative but easy call with 64 and you put your stack in with JJwhen he flops trips ( - 180bb)

    Hand 6:
he finally folds to turn semi bluff. (yay 35bb)
I suppose he had to eventually...

Hand 7: finally your image of bluff raising turn or river can pay off
when your river trips good kicker after making bad flop and turn calls with bottom pair, but instead you just 'call' his river bet.

Hand 8: Good hand I think, You vbet your top pair for 3streets & he folds river - he was probably calling down with draw.

Hand 9: He calls 3bet and cbet on dry board with some A high hand, probably correct vs your range and he finds fold when you overbet your trips on turn

Hand 10: you dont 3bet AQ, peel flop with overs and gutshot get very lucky and get 65bb of value (but I think this donk would have check called with 2nd pr regardless of your image)

Hand 11: He bluffs at paired turn, and follows it up with river bluff when 3rd ten hits pity for him you cant fold A high either.

Hand 12: KK std he will always put in his money with str draw

Hand 13: AJ hand seems pretty good (pot control turn and induced river bluff) and pretty bad by him (even though he correctly sensed weakness on turn)

Hand 14: Flush gets paid off because of your image.
(but thats because opp in this hand is different player, someone half decent (who its worth creating an image for)

Hand 15: He correctly 3bets 88 you get lucky two pair flop
    and get paid off

Hand 16: bad call of huge 3bet with t7
almost bad call with gutshot on flop
very bad call on turn (even with more outs)
    and very lucky river

This a is very high variance way to adjust to a loose donk.
You're creating a crazy image by betting and bluffing when you don't need to! He will always go all in with draws, put in most of his stack with mid pr and sometimes even with A high.

    At some point you wrote
(I think I realized why im not raising here: I have a huge edge postflop so I don't want to build a pot until i hit a hand, Lowering my volitility)

I think thats pretty optimal strategy vs a bad loose aggro player, increase your vpip for sure but just use pot control ruthlessly, keep the pot small till you have a good hand (pre and post) and if hes aggressive induce bluffs with more marginal hands on later streets as you did in some instances.

Again I have uber respect for your game and Im sure there's method to your madness but this session Im not so sure.
