Guessing a range from stats.

Default Guessing a range from stats.

I often find myself faced with an opening raise from a rock running around 7/4 while I'm holding something like AQ. While I do have the advantage of position, I really think he's way ahead of me.

Is there any method of guessing a bit more precisely his range? The best I came up with is : 4*261/100 = 10.44
So that 4% PFR roughly corresponds to the top ten hands. so TT+, AK, AQ, KQ.

    Is my reasoning right?

Click on "Player 1", click the "Preflop" tab and there is a slider.

99+, AK is 3.9% Don't play this hand because he's a nit and you don't want to give him any action.

    Thanks for the tip!

I usually fold in this spot, but I had some doubts. Now it's all clear.

    no prob.

    Couple extra thoughts:
you need to make sure you have a good sample. 7/4 over 30 hands is basically meaningless.

If you're "counting" cards, you can't list card pairs. There are 6 ways to make AA, 4 ways to make AKs, and 12 ways to make AKo.

Once the ranges get bigger players tend to have a leaning which wont match pokerstove ranges.

    Some value Ax.
    Some value PPs.
    Some value SCs.
    Some value any sooted.
Some like pretty pictures on at least one card.

After they showdown a few hands you'll get a feel for which way they lean.
Just dipping my toes back in.
