Default 6k by 2k8... and other goals

edit: looks like supernova is gonna be soooo easy to get that I am switching this to a more of a money goal. I'm deliberately shooting a bit high... but doable, playing a 100/200nl mix.

    Goals:

    - Make 6K by 2k8
    - make supernova, 40kvpp by December 22nd. Family vacation is 23-26th, so I have the 27th-31st to mega grind if I'm short. But I'd like to make it before vacation to relax and celebrate.
    - play consistently
    - quit or not play when emotional control is poor
    - quit sessions when focus is lost or tired
    - Find optimal hourly rate -- 10 tabling 100nl or 5 tabling 200?
    - think about situations more deeply and have the balls to try my ideas and intuitions
    [/b]

Progress is 33,420 VPP on Nov 8th
    Days left: 45
    Points per day needed: 742.66
    Points needed per week: 5198.62
    Average including today: 759.75
Average daily if emergency 5 days used: 668.4

I did take the weekend off, and have grinded hard this week. I will play more later today... I think I'm in good shape. I do have a week off before xmas to crunch.

    backstory
missed 1/2 year due to taking time off + netteller monies frozen.
Just came down from 400 and 600nl splashing around after having a heart attack daily watching 1-2k swings. The emotional drain was night and day compared to lower limits! My day would be WRECKED losing 2k, where I would be like manic winning 2k. Scary stuff. Totally screwed with my daily job performance...soooo

I decided to cash some monies for a Plasma screen and drop down where losing a buyin was like taking a constipated dump -- sucks when it happens, but after I don't really care after.

I could play 200NL but the VPP's aren't that much better and I'm grinding so much I think play could suffer. I'm going for low variance high MTT count (also more than ever before, going for up to 12 eventually where before 5 was a lot to me) and the decisions for the most part at 100NL are easy for me so I'm going for it there. It'll be also nice that is where my best overall winrate/profit is.

    strategy stuff -

    playing tight, like 19/13. oop 3betting is QQ+, IP 3betting is JJ+ AK/AQs
3 bet calling range (unless 3bet is too large for set odds), all pp, AKs, AQs, occasionally j10s or qjs if the 3bet is small and I think villain stacks off easily

4bet shoving range: AA/KK, AK vs. villains who like to fold
4 bet shove call range: AA/KK... though I have folded KK preflop when I felt the player was tight enough

i'm having the hardest time with kings and queens, which I don't remember having particular problems with. I think it's the style of play i'm running into:a LOT of KK and AA is chosing now to just call a 3 bet and not re-raise, and "slowplay". In the last 3k hands I've ran into at least 7 situations where I had the next best overpair where I 3bet but villains just calls, and more where I've seen it go back and forth between 2 villains. I've stacked sometimes but now I grow suspicious... especially after dumping a couple buyins with kings on flops to aces.

this hand is a prime example of WTF? I don't know how I knew I was beat, but I sensed it based on seeing this fing 3bet smooth call shit. How do you fight it? I didn't see much of this at 200/400/600 it went in pre usually

yeah, I know how to play the hands I just had some really rough variance where I picked up probably double the pocket aces and kings, but when I picked them up someone either flopped a set, 2p, or had aces when I had kings. I wanted to off myself.

I just don't know what to do with these people who call 3bets with AA or KK

I don't see how you can 16 table. 9 tabling seems like almost too much now

31,629 points to go -- lil over 1k in a day. Wow. I have never grinded this much before, and I am glad I dropped down because it looks like I just pulled myself out of a horrible run of cards and suckouts to some positive variance. +5 BI today. yay

I'm making a side goal with myself, to try to now average at least 20K hands a month. It's really not that much doing at least 6 tables at 6 max.

yay, so I played more hands on sunday than I ever have in a day --4,066 and broke even. Kinda sad, but I oddly held good morale because of the VPP goal, which is kinda weird. Normally I wouldn't be pissed, but probably more frustrated. I also felt like I earned more vpp than I did, but oh well.

Then I pop on for 20 minutes in 200nl this morning and receive gifts

I about shat a brick when the 4th heart hit

like 3 hands later, how do you think I played this value wise before seeing results, and after? I felt after showing down a set so soon, I could get good value from medium strength hands, more than normal but not a stack

29,456 VPP to go. been sneaking a little 200nl, its just so much more fun and there are more full stacks. but god, the vpip is sickly low and full of tags who play tough but most are payoff wizards and fold in small pots. I need to stick with 100nl though at like 6-8 tables cuz its more vpp than 4 tabling 200

27,582 to go. Need 672/day to make it by the 23rd. I don't get why I am making money at 200nl but breaking even at the moment at 100nl. Maybe just luck but I feel like there is a lot more people calling down marginal hands that I can value bet to death at 200nl

handz... been 4-5 tabling 200nl today. Last night I played 10 tables of 6 max 100nl and wow, I was keeping up but occasionally missing value. I think 4-5 tabling 200nl is more profitable for me.

its amazing what payoff wizards the 200nl guys are...its like kenny "sick call" tran syndrome, they want to make a bunch of sick calls or plays, only to go busto on a dumb hand. I had a guy stack off with AK vs. my set, and the river was a Q so when I shoved my last 50bb WTF did he think he was beating but a bluff?

    table selection

One big key to today and yesterday's winning sessions ($1500 at 200nl) has been TS -- extra dilligent about only using wait lists but a new thing for me, and I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, is after 30 minutes to compare the tables I'm at with the tables available... most of the best players use the wait list and the VPIP can drop very fast, and usually the ones to leave the table are fish. I don't wait in long lines, never more than 1 person before me, even then is probably too long...

    confusing hands

I hate playing 3bet pots with JJ oop, so I normally don't 3bet out of the sb with it. I have to lead flop, but what to do on turn? Lead again is what I was thinking, but if he called flop I don't see why he is folding turn here...

    Hero??

Dunno what I shoulda done here... the minraise, does that scream set or made flush? I'd think a set would have to raise bigger, what do you do with the straight?

I'm not in this hand but I found it interesting because "hero" in this hand who is, purplejurkle, is the same guy who was the villain that bluffed off 135bb like 1 orbit earlier. I think he used that image to his advantage and got an interesting result....
