    Default Poker Videos

    Hi all,

In the POKER TOOLS: section of ftr, there is a section where people have uploaded videos with commentaries on the game.

I don't have an internet connection at home as I'm between houses, but would really like to be able to view some of these videos. Currently I can only view them at work, but this obviously isn't possible if I value my job!

Therefore, I'm wondering if it's possible to somehow download theses videos so I can transfer them, and then view them on my laptop at home?

    Thanks in advance.

First you need Mozilla Firefox browser.

Download the Firefox VideoDownloader found here.

    Restart Firefox.

Click on a video you like found here.

Click the icon in the lower left corner. Right click the “Download Link” button and select “Save Link As…” Name the file something.flv and change the “save type” to “all files.” Save the file someplace easy to find, I suggest the Desktop. Now you can email your self the video, or better yet just save it to a flash drive. As far as I know this method is completely legal and it works on youtube videos and pretty much any video you find on the web.

As an added bonus you can download songs for free with this method too. Just find a music video on youtube of a song you like and download it as shown above. Now download AoA Audio Extractor. Install AoA and open up the program. Drag and drop the video file to the open space. Make sure the output options are set to Mp3, and that the channels are set to stereo, then click start. Now you can insert the MP3 to iTunes and put it on your iPod or you can burn it to a CD.

LOTS more videos on the way. We're having some technical problems, but they're coming.

    Animal,

Thanks for the quick reply mate, much appreciated.

I've got as far as installing firefox and the video downloader following your instructions, but to which 'icon in the lower left corner' are you referring to? I can't see any relevant icons there..............should've gone to specsavers!

Could you be a little clearer what it is I need to click on please.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not too good with technology or computers and I just tried to do this too, but I believe he meant the icon on the bottom RIGHT corner. You have to make sure you restarted firefox after downloading the add-on for it to appear.

    Hello Again,

I found the icon in the bottom right, have tried all sorts of 'trial and error' right and left clicks on this icon and elsewhere on the page, but do not seem to be able to download the video. I've downloaded a flash video player and whatever file IS downloaded after saving in this manner is not playable.

I'm actually quite computer literate and have used many programmes and have come to the conclusion that either, a) this isn't possible or b) I'm just damn incompetent and not as literate as I thought, lol

Could anyone provide more detailed instructions as to how this can be done? Has anyone managed this before?

    Cheers,
    Mark.

Uhh.. I can't watch any of the videos on this site for some reason. They just won't play. Try the method with a youtube video and see if it works there.

I tried watching some of the videos and I can't get any of them to load. It always shows the first few seconds and then cuts back to the beginning. At first I thought it was just because they needed time to load but I still couldn't get anything out of them.

Is there anyway the videodownloader thing can work for videos other than on the sites they list?

    Hey all,

Animal_chin downloading method doesn't work for me as well (i think it's work ONLY with supported site...or maybe i'm just terrible wrong and don't know anything)

Anyway there is trick that work for me fine and i'm sure that it will work for everyone else to.

    1. Go to poker video section.

2 .Click video that u want to download.
(example first one: $200 NLHE 6-Max: ISF & Massimo 1)

    3. Now u need to open site source to do this press CTRL+U (firefox).
(i'm not sure that this keyboard shortcut work in other web browser so if u use IE or opera or smthing u need to find out how to do this for yourself)

    4. In new window (with source) press CTRL+F and search for '.flv'
    (or find file adres manual)

    5. Copy whole link to cliboard (ctrl+C)
    (example: www . pokeraffiliateguide . com/videos/FTR_vid_1.flv)

    6. Pass link to download menager (Flashget works fine).
(with some few other trick u can download file without DM but its take more time to explain how to do that...)

    7. Download.

    8. Make some popcorn, take 2 beers from refrigerator.

    9. Watch.

Be sure u got some video player that handle .flv file
    (example: FLVPlayer)

    -----

    LINK TO FIRST 5 VIDEO

    1. www . pokeraffiliateguide . com/videos/FTR_vid_1.flv

Dude... not a damn thing wrong with your English. Most excellent suggestion and great instructions. I've been wanting to download these myself and installing Firefox wasn't really in the cards. Thx!

Update the Adobe Flash Player for your browser.

Older versions of the Flash Player browser plug-in seem to work fine with YouTube, but they don't seem to be compatible with our video player.

    Get it here:

The list of poker videos is now sortable!

To sort the list of videos by a different column, click on the title of the corresponding column. For example, to sort the list by Date Added, click on the title Date Added in the top row.

This will list the videos ordered from newest to oldest, like this:
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/poker-v...ideos-Date.php

Click Date Added again and the order will be inverted (oldest to newest).

    PLEASE RATE THESE VIDEOS!

    Default My problems

I can't expland any videos to full screen - even though when I right click the icon, it indicates I am in full screen mode as the option present is to exit full screen mode.

    I udpated from Flash 8 to 9. I DL v 9,0,47,0 but when i go to verify, it tells me it's v 9,0,12,0.

I use Netscape, have GOMplayer (that can play flv) and also FLVPlayer. When i try and save any videos to .flv (right click, save target as...) the file will not play in GOM or via FLVPlayer.

I'll send a note to the developer of our player. In the meantime, you could try this method for downloading the videos:
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...=555659#555659

What you did (right-click, save as...) downloads the .php site page, not the FLV file.

You do mean you've updated your Flash Player, right? From here:

Can you try using Internet Explorer to view one of our videos and see if the fullscreen button works?

    Indeed.

    Yep, already did. No joy.

***STOP PRESS** IE is now expanding to full screen - NS isn't - but at least I can see what's going on in the vids, thx.

I've had the same problem using firefox, it thinks it's already expanded to full screen. Also, I don't like having to open another browser just to view videos, BUT I do have a workaround.

The firefox extension called IE Tab will allow you to view a page using the IE engine within a firefox tab, so you can just keep the single window open.

Changing the extension doesn't change the file you downloaded. It's still a php page, not a Flash video. The video file is embedded within the code of the page. You can't select/right-click it with your mouse.

Good. Curious.. what changed between "No joy" and "Stop Press"? Updating Flash Player on IE?

I'm awaiting a response from the developer now.

This is the first I've heard of this problem with Firefox. Very strange. I'm using Firefox myself (without any special extension) and never had a problem with it. What version of Firefox are you using?
  22. #22
Right now I'm using 2.0.0.3, and at work don't have the option to change. I'll check when I get home tonight to see if I have the problem there too, and what version I'm running.

I thnk it was the age old "reboot" that did the trick.
  24. #24
OK, at home I'm running firefox 2.0.0.7 and it works just fine. Maybe that was the problem.
