Default 5-10 FL FR live hand, Blind battle!

Ok so Im playing 5-10 FL, we're 8 handed and the only sensable player (othr then myself) is sitting to my right. In this game whenever its folded to the blinds its cutomary to "chop", or take our blinds back an deal a new hand. Folded to him in the sb dealer says "chop?" and he says.....

"no, raise", i give him the look, and look down at AQ and call.

    flop comes 9 T 2

he leads and i raise for a few reasons

    1. i dont thin the flop hit him, i also know i he has a set or over pair he will 3 bet an i can safley fold.

2.I think if he has a small pair he might just fold.

    3. To let him know to chop next time, i wont lay down lk a seep if he raises my blind.

    Turn comes a 5

    he checks, i check

I dont know, i think this is where i f'ed up, the flush filled but we're HU, i just felt id take the free card and try to sho don chep. IDK really my full thought process.

    river 3

    he leads...HERO?

    BOARD IS 9 T 2 5 3

RESULTS: I folded and he fliped up AJ and says "thanks"...grrrr. Should i have called or did I just botch the turn, and fold is now standerd?

Easy fold I would have thought, too much beats you here.

    Why didnt you re-raise pre-flop?

Re-raise pre-flop. Tend to see a showdown. Avoid sitting next to people who won't chop at those stakes.

reraise the blind, make it clear if he wants to play poker then so do we.
I donk every street considering he has to have a good hand to raise the sb if the standard is to chop it here.

After thinking a bout it this is the line i thought was best (later that night) I diddnt wan to reraise pf because i he had chopped b4 he might have a very big hand like AA KK and thats why he wasnt chopping.

Also if he was trying to "steal" with a weak Axs or med pair then i would win alot more bets on subsequent streets whe anA flopped or i made a big hand like a ST. If i three bet pf and he hits an A with AJ- he goes to call down mode possiblly vn fol when he gets raised on the flop or turn (whenever) By calling and using a c/c c/r line when n A flops i may get 3-bet on the turn and i can cap, and gaurentee an extra bet on the river. Prett much ny big hand i make aginst a board he connects with (where hed be calling anyway) i gain more bets on the turn ad river then the b preflop by calling.

Why chop the pot, or expect someone else to? Sincere question. I guess I could see the sense of it if both players have mediocre hands. If it was just to save time so all could play, I could see it; but it doesn't take long to play out a hand. And if it is customary in your home game, I would have no problem with it generally.

But what if you are dealt AA? Would you still be willing to chop?

    This was at a casino.

And yes, even if yo have AA its good etiquitte to chop. Its a courtisy to the other players. Its also basd on the principal that you wont win a big pot.

Chopping the blinds is pure +EV for all involved.

Anyway, I reraise pre and this changes things.

You cant call river as played.
<Staxalax> Honestly, #flopturnriver is the one thing that has improved my game the most.

    Really though?

If the guy had chopped last2-3 hands and nw he's rising do you really put alot of value in your AQ? Look at it situationaly. Im putting this guy on AA more then 60%.
